As a follow up to the on going issue of people coming on here with a list of stuff asking for valuations and then disappearing, or trying to flog it at silly prices, can we have a little common sense?
When a one post wonder comes on asking for a value of a list of stuff, please no one offer any advice beyond an initial reply asking him/her for more pictures and an Ebay ID (if they have one). If those appear then at least we know they have the items and are semi serious. It won't stop the problem and I dare say we will still get them posting on here, but at least then we won't have 37 people saying "hello, how about pictures" etc.

Not looking to make this a hard and fast rule, I just thought if we leave it that one person replies asking for pictures and Ebay ID (or that they introduce themselves if you're so inclined, the majority tend to be selling with no knowledge so an intro is pointless but anyways) then either the newbie will take the hint or the thread will quickly sink.

Obviously anyone who wants to PM them looking to buy is doing so at their own risk, but you all knew that anyway.

Would there be a way of making new users fill out an introduction form as part of the registration process?
It could be like the 'fit and proper persons test' in footie. It may make some of the real spammers think twice aswell.
You then wouldn't be able to post untill certain criteria is met. Is this an option?

What about a polite standard reply with all the info that can be copied and pasted. I don't think people read the 'first post threads.

I don't think that's do-able. TBH Edd deals with all the registrations stuff and I think it's either individual vetting or a blanket sign up and go.

Another reason would be newbies who come on here acting like pricks tend to get banned!

Keep going, you're getting very close to finding out what that's like!

I only questioned your post. You then went on to insult my intelligence and now name calling. If behaving like a prick gets you banned how did you manage to get so many posts?

Mmmm......
