Anyone out there collect or used to play Subbuteo?

I've still got my World cup set from the early 80s, and all my cousin's stuff from the mid 60s. I don't collect it - in fact I'm tempted to sell it to fund some vintage SW purchases but I don't think I can bring myself to do it.

Anyway, the only reason I'm asking is I've just come across someone selling 'Subbuteo streaker' figures on eBay.  You can get male and female versions, along with the rules on how to use them.

Seriously, who thinks of this stuff?!

Not any more sadly but I loved it as a kid. All my mates were super jealous of my setup as I had the "luxurious" rolled astro turf pitch instead of the crappy folded table cloth pitch the normal boxed versions came with! I never had the grandstand though, I remember many a christmas pining over that in the argos catalogue :)

I used to love it also growing up and had the floodlights set. I remember selling it at the local secondhand shop and wish I'd kept hold of it for my boys to play with. Many a well spent afternoon playing that game and I remember also having a scoreboard and some stands (although not that many supporters to go in them).

I did however notice a set in my wife's home loft a while back that is her brothers so there's still some hope to play it again, just need to get my finger action in again

I had a set, don't think I ever worked out how to play it though.

Looked good all set up on the kitchen table.

The World Cup set came with working floodlights, fencing, TV gantry and other stuff. It took ages if you set it all up. Only had the bog standard tablecloth pitch though.

For some reason we used to set ours up at the top of the stairs. No wonder so many players got crushed.

We never worked out the rules either. We just made it up as we went along which caused no end of problems.

I always wanted the subbuteo football game. Then mum bought me a game which you could push the players heads down to kick the ball. I actually loved it does anyone know the name or make of this game?
You could get all the different football strips of the English league.
It had also a one piece moulded pitch with high sides. From memory I think ther wer 6 outfield players.

Yeah I don't ever recall playing by the rules, there was none of this taking it in turns business

Spurs vs Forrest! Not sure that'd be something they'd produce today

Think I'm going to have to dig mine out next time I'm at my parents. :) The 60s stuff looks pretty cool.

Yes, Gazza was pumped Up and made a couple of pretty rash fouls, think Pearce scored from a resulting free kick , Gazza ended up tearing cruciate ligaments and went off on a stretcher.

I remember his performances at Italia 90 and then that happening to the guy. I don't really watch much soccer but always watched the big games and tournaments when they are on. I think he then broke the leg in Italy after the cruciate injury if I remember.
I think if the guy maybe hadn't got those injuries his life would be different now.
Anyone know where Jimmy 5 bellies is now? That guy was always in pictures with gazza on the piss!
His liver must be like a stone by this stage :?

Loved the game and still do, have played with my brother on a few evenings in the last couple of years.

We had floodlights and scoreboard but never any stands. We were also sticklers for rules so played the game with some kind of order.

I've set myself a project to mount an astro pitch on some board with fencing, got too much going on at the moment for it to happen but it will happen one day!

Post some pictures here when you do it!
