Strange the random people you meet who are fellow collectors.

I been collecting vintage properly for about three years, before it was a bit off and on, and in that time I have never spoke to a fellow collector in person. I recently moved to a teeny villiage in the highlands of scotland as I was spending so much on travel up to see my girlfriend here. There is nowhere around to buy vintage or anyone else I woulda thought would be a collector around here. But my gilfriend mentioned a bloke who I serve in the shop I work at and how he is into vintage toys including star wars. He came in today and I got chatting, and its so weird to hear someone mention 'palitoy' and 'rocket firing boba fett' after seeing it online or hearing it on videos and stuff. Dont think he owns that much in vintage star wars line, but he said hes got some GI Joes and stuff. Was really awesome to chat to someone about vintage toys if only for five mins, especially in the middle of nowhere.

Dunno why Im posting this really, just being able to chat to someone equally as passionate about vintage toys in person made me proper chuffed!

Once in a blue moon will I meet a fellow collector in person, but when I do it's like an instant friendship made. it's funny how easily you can talk to someone else for hours regarding collecting toys.

There was this guy who use to work in a watch repair shop inside the tesco store i worked, During celebration europe i actually bumped into him there , turns out hes a member of RS a huge star wars fan and goes to all the comic cons, now we meet up regular and chat....its a small world

For me it's the actual meeting of fellow collectors I love most, partly why I organise the Midland meet ups. Sure, this forum is great online but having a face to face interaction is great on many different levels.

I've met some of my best mates through the hobby over the years, Lee Bullock being one of my oldest. Meeting new friends like Stef, Barry, Jimbo, Mark F makes collecting that little bit more enjoyable.

I agree, meeting anyone who collects Star Wars is like making an instant friend.

I hadn't ever met another collector in person until I went to Farthest From in December. It was awesome, suddenly surrounded by dozens of vintage freaks like me. I really enjoyed chatting Star Wars and just hanging out with like minded people. It's a buzz, adds another dimension to collecting you don't get online. Looking forward to FF in december and would like to get to the odd other event next year. Be cool to meet some of the northern lads :D

I met a couple in the 90's randomly who were small dealers as well, they bothed ripped me of which made me weary of meeting new collectors for years. Their is a chap in the local shoe repair shop that has a poster of the vintage line up in his shop, talk to him some times.

i had just my loose figures on display in my old flat i moved into a few years back with the mrs, we decided to have a house warming party and some of her old school friends came over that i had'nt met before and i heard one of them say "oooh he's even got some of the last 17" my ears instantly pricked up!
