In his latest series of sculptures Leavitt juxtaposes classic archetypal roles embodied by fabled Star Wars characters with a famed cast of pop-culture personae. These unique, hand-carved works can be viewed at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery exhibition page http://jonathanlevinegallery.com/?m...ExhibitID=6F6140B1-0271-FC1C-6068C5615EDC953D. Well, full marks for originality and they clearly look like the work of a skilled artist. Personally as a vintage Star Wars collector i have never thought " how cool would a Michael Jackson ewok be" or " I wish I could combine my favourite dog munching North Korean lunatic with jabba the hut " I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong but I'm not sure there would be much love for these here. I
assume due to license and copyright etc etc mr leavitt is not allowed to reproduce actual Star Wars characters, now if he could, that would be a different story all together...........

I was just looking at these online a couple of days ago, really great pieces IMO. The Che boba & the wicket Michael are two of my favorites. But I do agree it's not for everyone lol, his banksy and Shepard pieces are also very cool. Dude has talent.
