STAR WARS THE T.V PROGRAM

I only know what Rick McCallum said at CE. Up to 400 episodes over two or three separate shows (like Star Trek with Voyager, DS9 etc). They begin casting at the end of the year. They want to get it right so are spending a lot of cash on it. Apparently each show will be movie quality.

It has been said before that some of the key characters may make very occassional appearances, i.e. Vader, Obi-wan on the occassional off-tattoine mission etc but its mainly the minor characters and new ones being used. Boba Fett, Mon Mothma setting up the Rebel Alliance, Bail Organa ??? 8)

Thats what I thought!

I reckon they've got a great opportunity to do some work on a lot of the characters we know and love from the films. The backstories to the Bounty Hunters like Dengar, Bossk for example. I think we will also start to see the familar ships coming into being i.e. Y-Wings, Star Destroyers and perhaps the first Tie Fighters, AT-AT's.

I'm very excited about it as I think it'll keep the interest in vintage high for years.

You look over at Rebelscum and some of the Americans are giving vintage the doom and gloom treatment as their friends are getting out of Star Wars or a couple of old time collectors haven't posted in a while. Of course that means the whole vintage scene worldwide is on a downward spiral

I have been reading that thread. It is quite funny really as they are really on a doom and gloom. Its either AFA has ruined the hobby or a few major collection sell offs to invest in comic books is changing the hobby :?

Its such bollocks as well, they won't pay for AFA items but they'll happily shell out $1000's for comic books which are quite often graded anyway. I think quite a few of the AFA haters have been caught buying and selling graded stuff before though which makes me laugh.

I won't generalise but a few of the US guys are very inward looking and don't seem to notice anything outside of the states. They usually only reply to the posts of a select few and ignore those from people who they see as not worthy

i just hope they dont **** it up by having jar jar in it !!

, take battlestar galactica for instance why change starbuck to a woman ????

it's going to make vintage stuff go through the roof in price ??

I'm with you guys it would be great to find out more details about the minor characters/history of them and the Alliance etc.
But, I also hope they don't **** it all up, as Han says by including he who's name I won't use!

Heres my take on the subjects.. as for the TV series it sounds great but 400 episodes is a bit over the top

at first they said they were going to make it to bridge the gap between ROTS and ANH which if they had not had dragged out attack of the clones for so long they could have dealt with it all in ROTS which was the whole Idea

would be great to see dengar and boba fett though

as for afa ruining the hobby hmmmm, I have gone of afa slighly but its due to the greedy assholes who have more money than sense so outbid you no matter what for a nice c 9 carded figure so they can get it graded and then sell it for triple again but thats not afa fault thats greedy scalpers

as for those lying rats who say they hate afa and would never use them, the word hypocrit comes to mind....

heres the gist a so called hater of afa has a reallly nice c 9 carded 21 back boba fett that would 100 percent get an 85 overall grade if graded, now the so called hater can sell it on ebay ungraded and maybe get 600-800 pounds for it if he is lucky but if he has it graded he can get around 1200-1400 pounds for it, now because of his principles is he prepared to lose out and not double his money I think ****ing not!!

Your right Lee, principles and morals are very easy things to "forget" about when there is money involved!

:)

It has gotten to the point where ppl are embarrased to admit they like afa in fear of ppl saying they are not proper collectors or newbies to the scene lol what bullshit

the TV episodes sound good i hope to god they dont **** it up

they have already done stuff on the bounty hunters in books anyone read tales of the bounty hunters and tales from mos eisley cantina?? they are great books and i recommend them 8) 8)

I've seen a few of the threads on RS, there do seem to be a few fully paid up members of the AFA haters society on there (as well as some very anally retentive people as well!). Personally I go for AFA items because I know what I'm getting. I, like most people on here, have bought too many items that were described as Mint/NM and they ended up looking like Giant Haystacks had sat on them!
I don't like AFA as such, but the (near) guarantee I get when I purchase an item they have graded. If people don't agree, fair enough. I'm not gonna get worked up about it either way, as Jabba keeps saying "they are toys" and it's a hobbie!

But, your spot on, with what you said earlier!

Well Jabba you are not one of those certain RS lying rat hypocrits who I am talking about but I guess if I posted my comments at RS I would get all sorts of grief when I like the easy life :)
