Found this really interesting, obvious and probably been covered before

All the same found it interesting to see the similarities, gammy guard and friar tuck for example
Enjoyed reading it though

Great thread mike and a new line in collecting perhaps for those who never knew. The friar tuck figures look to be quite commonly available

Yes I really enjoyed the read, stands to reason though.

Robin Hood stuff, like the battle wagon, interesting.

The link with six million dollar man again interesting,

BTW Barry just posted IG

What I find interesting about these is that it clearly means Kenner had the moulds etc still sitting around almost a decade after the production of Star Wars toys ended.

The robin hood line completely ripped off the Kenner superpowers line....

Give Dave Tree a PM.

He is a part of the 'Palitoy Archive' and knows tons about what happened in the UK with star wars parts.

The Robin Hood line is pretty cheap to buy for those who want to 'branch out'

Agreed, but remember folks Friar Tuck complete comes with a Robe and staff, alot of them on eBay come bare.

I have got a lot of these - they look pretty good - might try and put up a display at some point

Are they loose, or mocs?

Post a couple of pics if youget chance in the other collection thread, love to see them

I've got both loose and MOCs, a couple of the Mini-Rig style items and the Battle Wagon

Will try and get some pictures sorted

Same here. The Jason Joiner thread has got me thinking what could have happened to the various production lines. As a completely separate topic it would be great to find out some history on this. My guess is that most of the tooling and moulds were sold off to other manufacturers, or maybe scrapped  Some of that is clearly what we're seeing with these toy lines. Fascinating stuff

Palitoy Archive? What's that? I've PM'd Dave Tree before and never got a response.

...and for variant collectors, here's friar tuck with light and dark brown beards.

I remember someone selling one of these on eBay passing it off as a rare George Lucas in Gamorrean disguise

Very interesting read Michael and at least now I know it's George Lucas in Friar Tuck disguise not GG :)

You see...that's the problem, vintage SW is a cornucopia of choice in regard to focus, then variants, if you then move to SW related, then the addiction is out of control

Mmmm...but these RH figures are cool, and low cost

don't be ridiculous, that would mean someone listens to me ;)

Action Force has the coolest recycled use of Star Wars parts, but everyone focuses on Robin Hood, which means they love Kevin Costner more than the SAS, and that is what is wrong with the world.

Here are a few from Farthest From II

I rarely log in to places, so best way to reach me is always the shop email: [email protected] or via the facebook pages for All The Cool Stuff or Farthest From :)

The Palitoy Archive is best known for the Celebration Europe exhibition:

but also exhibited at Leicester Space Centre too.

Since then it has been a series of projects including the 30th Anniversary of Empire Strikes Back micro exhibition:

and the Palitoy Star Wars Advert Archive DVD, as well as the Farthest From Show in a roundabout way.

There is a lot of other stuff going on in the background too, but you get the idea, it's about cool vintage stuff :)

Thanks David, will be using those links

Love the pics and the Action Force tie in ( forgive the TF pun...unintentional)

I always linked Action Force With the dwindling Sales of Action Man the Palitoy ownership 82 83. Then the Hasbro pickup in 85

But stupidly never associated with Star wars

As you quite rightly point out, AF figs and the SAS are way cooler than RH and his men in tights.

So that a green light to start collecting AF mocs as well now

Bugger will this addiction never end

Thanks again David, BTW, I think we should address you as DT, given the coolness of those initials :D

Cheers for posting :D

oh there is soooooooooo much to talk about :)
Star Wars sadly killed Action Man, Action Force was an attempt to keep up AND in actual fact it did very well becoming the 2nd top selling boys toy after Star Wars, but General Mills had other plans.

There's a lot of very cool references, which Kenner would have had a fit had they known.

Damn straight, I run a Transformers, GI Joe and Action Force show too and this year we had the former Palitoy Death Star playset designer and the Lead Project Manager of Action Force there: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.454352644683230.1073741837.328192067299289&type=3
