Well , UK quad poster , 40X30 pre awards print some fold marks as folded when I bought it from my local pictures for my bedroom wall .
Some drawing pin holes in the corners , but colour good due to being stored the last 10 years in a cardboard tube .
My question is how much is an original poster worth ?
There cant be many out there and must be a must for a true fan .
Love to upload a photo by the file size is to big .

Hey

You really need to upload the picture, if it is too big i dump an image into PowerPoint and then take a screenshot and crop it in MS Paint and then load that up, there are probably easier ways but hey, it works :)

as for the poster you haven't described it well enough as there are many UK Quad styles. However, if you have the main poster I am going to assume it is a 1977 C design by Tom Chantrell, i am guessing it is not the Hildebrandt brothers version which is the original UK Quad and something of a rare find.

The Tom Chantrell design came out after the Hildebrandt brothers version and came in two flavours, one just before the Oscar wins and one after, the only difference being the printers added the Oscar wins to the poster. Without images there is no way to make a valuation but pin holes and creases are not your friend here (Sorry), that said in 1977 it was common for the printers to fold the posters and ship flat pack to the cinemas rather than roll them, but if they are minimal and in the case of the pin holes in the corners then a professional mounting and frame will hide a multitude of sins and shouldn't detract too much from the value, but it will detract a bit.

As for common/rare, this version isn't that rare but equally isn't super common either, i.e. if you know where to look then it isn't too hard to find, most dealers carry copies and there is always someone on evilbay trying to flog it. The version with the Oscar details on is more common and can go for anything between £200-£350ish at a guess. The version without the Oscar details could get up to £400/£450, maybe a little more but it is all down to condition and market desire. It is a cracking poster, easily one of the best made for SW. Potentially a nice and quiet valuable poster but without pictures you won't get any interest.

If Iv done this right think that's a link........ Where's am astro Droid when you want one ?

If you want to frame this you should look at how. What sort of mounting you want to use, what frame and if your budget stretches PVC rather than glass, although glass is fine if the poster is kept in a well maintained climate, too much cold and moisture can get trapped on the wrong side of the glass and then the paper gets stuck and the poster ruined, although it is rare and 90% of my posters are framed with glass. For reference i have used dry board mounting, which means the posters are essentially 'glued' to a fixed mounting before the frame is applied and once framed they are effectively entombed for life :). The end result is cracking but there are other options, either way you are looking at anything between £70 - £120 to frame a UK quad properly.

For what it's worth i would frame this and hang it for the world to see, it is a cracking poster

Personally I think £500 is a fair price. As a buyer i wouldn't want to spend much more and as a seller that is good money. Dealers may well charge more but they do have overheads to cover and as a rule a dealer will charge a premium. At the end of the day the only person who can say if it is a fair price is you, are you happy to sell it at that price or even sell it at all? If the answer isn't yes the either or both of those then don't sell, regret is a pain in this hobby, if the answer is yes then let her rip and look forward to 'reinvesting' your £500.

Best of luck with you decision.

If it helps here is a link to a dealer selling an Oscar version - http://www.simondwyer.com/Star_Wars_Vintage_Movie_Poster-0-4960
He wants £400 for it and its in great condtion. The mark up here is about £50 on my original estimate for an oscar version so have a think how that fits with your poster and value etc.
