First of all I wasn't sure where to post this, so if I have posted in the wrong place, then apologise!

The reason for my post is that i have decided to have my loft floored and lighted, I will be moving all ny modern up to the loft on display, so it will free up room in my box room to make room for more vintage, I was wondering what sort of units, cabinet or shelving do others use to display things, right now I have a couple of ikea glass cabinets that I will keep in there abd a amall sofa, but I like the idea of diplaying vehicles and playsets as well as mocs!

So basically I am looking for inspiration!

Take a look in the showcase section, loads of good ideas on display there.

I got my big display cabinet from www.morplan.com, it was expensive and a bitch to construct (2 man job) but worth it. You can't beat Ikea cabinets though, good value and look great.

Watching people's displays take shape is one of my favourite bits of the forum. We all collect similar things but the displays and limelight atealky put a personal stamp on things.

Me and the Mrs have just moved, and once the kitchens and bathrooms have been done I get to pimp out the smallest bedroom with my collection. I can't wait. I'm already fleshing out ideas.

Be cool to see this develop.

Great idea for a topic

Sublevel studios - Wow

I swear by the maine book cases from argos - modular units, different heights and widths offering many different display options, I think they are good quality for the money.

Deep ones are great for vehicles and half width for MOCs and loose - the CD unit works for mini rigs as well :D

I like the flexibility of changing things around every now and again - but I must admit I would like units with glass doors as it doesn't take long for things to get covered in dust!

Those cabinets look great mate, I like the versatility of being able to move the layout around. I must admit I do like either a full glass cabinet with glass doors or a wooden cabinet with glass doors. It just keeps it all safe and dust free and you can lock it if there's nippers about! I'm moving this year and will hopefully have a display room/office in the new gaff. Would like to completely rethink my display. Did get an idea from Adam Savage(Mythbusters). He uses Ikea billy bookcases to display his small props. They have glass shelves and glass doors and he puts white backboard in them and led strip lights on the back of the doors. It looks the nuts, I might do something like that. Search - Adam Savage mancave, on youtube and you can see them.

Another collection in the attic. You'll all be at it soon

Mine is all shelved on broke ass cabinets that are basically the remnants of various house moves and furniture upgrades. Cost to me = £0.00. The main one is an old trophy cabinet from the golf club near my mum's place. Had to saw it in half to get it through the loft hatch 8)

This is exactly what I am after! You all are giving me some great idea's, please keep them coming!

Tomorrow, I will get some pics up of my room as it is.

I was lucky that there were some old office shelves left in the house I moved into, one day I will upgrade to a large glass cabinet like Mark's - dusting is really a big factor

Otherwise the other cabinets are courtesy of Ikea, you really cant beat them for price

I really need some decent office furniture too

I had a re-shuffle tonight in my Star Wars room. I'm not ready for a showcase update yet (last one was in 2014). I'm waiting for one more piece. Maybe this weekend.
I need to dust the shelves and glass panels of 7 IKEA cabinets #ballache

One thing that's always worried me about the loft for display or storage is the temperature swings. I happened to pop into my loft during this week's heat wave, and it was gas mark 8 up there! Alright, this week was an extreme example, but will you be insulating between the rafters?

This how my room looks at the moment, all modern figure will be put up into the loft, hopefully make room for more vintage, I would love to be able to add vehicles and playsets, but space still be a premium as its only a box room.

You have got a serious amount of figures there Carl! What are all the loose modern, is it full sets of all the prequel figures? Loving all the Moc too, display looks great mate. Defo need a few ships though.. to compliment all the figures 8)

Hey guys! Thanks for the complements!

As for modern loose sets, I have complete POTF2, flashback, comtech, Episode 1, POTJ, episode 2/Saga, but gave up when starting Episode 3! Apart from a few 30th Anniversary I pretty much stopped all modern.
