Hello

So I was reading this latest thread about posts on RS and it turns out bumping your sales threads is frowned upon. Is this the case?

I only bump occasionally, like when i've changed something on the listings or when it's shoved right down the bottom of the second page. I can see how this would be annoying if a person bumped their thread every hour so it never left the top. Just after the general consensus. Would hate to have people seething ...and then a six foot skin-head screaming at me during the FF meet up

To be honest - the thread on RS is about a particular guy who bumps pretty much every other day - I don't think there is any issue with bumping threads on this site and haven't noticed anyone on here that does it excessively

Bumped one today (reductions! :) ) then read that and thought '..ooh dear! :? '

I haven't seen anyone bumping up their own threads excessively on here either.

I think it's reasonable to bump your own thread once or twice a week, especially if things have been added or sold. Many buyers only look at the first page or two of the for sale threads, so yours might not get looked at when it's on the 3rd page.

No, it was about bumping your thread every day or twice a day. Nothing wrong with a bump every now and then, especially if your sale thread has slipped off the main page.
If you'd read the thread properly you'd already know that.

i kind of skipped a bit (as always), then got tied up reading the RS crap. It was a lot for my pea brain :|

As a new member of RS, I was told off for bumping the thread before it disappears from page 1, which sounds reasonable as I usually don't usually look beyond page 1.

Or how about have 2 threads asking for the same thing on the Wanted section? It does make you read it twice just incase you forgot after reading the 1st one.

It's all about moderation. Bumping is fine, but you shouldn't bump solely to try and keep your post ahead of everyone else's. If after a week your post is on page 3, by all means give it a bump. But doing it every day is just rude in my opinion. If you want that kind of exposure, pay for advertising or make your own website.

what really pisses me off is people bumping their thread every day and leaving sold items in the title like VC Jawa Tri Logo moc when they all sold months ago, all that is left is a few bootlegs.

they should update their title to reflect what is for sale, not leave them there to make people re-look at their thread.

Perhaps it would be better to start a new thread instead.
