I know that this has been done to death but where do these guys get their prices from ?

Chap has just listed up a single pic of a display stand (poorly lit) and put up the following prices.

bespin guard £10 no weapon,
Tie fighter pilot £15 complete,
Luke bespin £15 no weapons,
Bespin guard £10 no weapon,
Ben kenobi £15 no saber,
Han solo £18, no weapon,
Leia £12 no weapon,
Luke £18 no saber tip,
At-st driver £12 no weapon,
Han trench coat £15 no weapon,
Yoda £17 no belt, cane or snake,

Far to many people pretending to be dealers right now - and what is even crazier is that people are buying from them. I saw a Power Droid sold for 25GBP the other day

Totally agree. I sold some of my loose unwanted items at what I thought was a fair price including a Power Droid at £10.

Insanity. I saw the PD listed at £25 and laughed. I stopped when the word SOLD appeared. I know his feet were nice and they are tough to find in card fresh condition, but that means £15. Tops. £25?? Jesus wept.

And as for that beater bunch you've highlighted, the prices are even more ridiculous than a £25 PD.

Seems like FB is becoming like eBay.. crazy prices.

Almost as bad as the 'uncracked limbs' posts.

Glad I don't do FB

Stick with Iain, can't go wrong

Seriously, Iain is a collector who values the hobby and its collectors, not just in it for a quick buck ( just realised that's relative now). Thank goodness we have a forum with collectors who care and all work together, long may it continue :D

Yeah I've recently joined some FB groups and a lot of the posts are a bit random. The selling seems to be frenzied with little detail and bad photos. Prices are quite high. Have seen a few good things but there's a lot of ****, it's a bit hit and miss. Also tons of pretty clueless new collectors steaming in trying to buy everything all at once :?

The only time I see consistently fair pricing is on here and there is the odd time I think Iain has had an issue on the keyboard because some of the stuff is too cheap! £30 Romba and about £25 Luke Jedi are 2 that spring to mind.
You can find a bargain occasionally on Ebay and I've not used FB to buy anything but the pricing/descriptions/photos are somewhat erratic to say the least.
Vintage shops you can pay a premium price but if you arm yourself with knowledge you won't get done, will hopefully meet fellow collectors and you do get the pleasure of a face to face deal.

I have never bought off FB. I would say most of the prices are way over Ebay prices and more so over forum prices. I cant blame sellers for turning there as there appears to be a line of window lickers ready to throw cash at common stuff and sometimes just pure garbage.

Love it!

Yeah I saw that post too. Some people don't seem to realise that the value is in the accesories, loose figures without weapons = beaters, a couple of quid each in most cases. I can't believe people are paying £10 for capeless and weaponless original Leia's either!

I buy and sell a lot on FB. I duplicate my FB For Sale posts on the forums like many other collectors do, resulting in prices being the same on FB and on the forums. I still find eBay prices higher. I myself usually price my items higher when listed on eBay to include the fees but most of the time they sell on FB / the forums and I end my eBay sales early (BIN sales).
What annoys me (and it's not specific to FB, the forums or eBay) is people paying $100-150 for a graded loosie while the ungraded counterpart in similar condition would go for $15-20. I just don't get the point in paying such a massive premium for a label and a sealed case, it being noted that I personnaly don't like how graded loosies display.
That being said and in all fairness you can still find loose figures, complete and in excellent condition, for reasonable prices on FB.

I think to be fair to FB there's just as many bargains as there are rip offs.
Hopeless if you're a newbie, I completed my loose run a long time ago so all the prices now look high to me.
It seems some people who are new to the hobby come with an already inflated idea of what loose figures cost perhaps having only looked on eBay.

True. I've had a couple of bargains - or just bits that I've wanted for ages that have not come up on ebay. I also know countless other collectors who've landed grail pieces from FB or I've tagged mates who I know are looking for certain items. It's fast becoming just as resourceful as ebay.

If you collect, it's a useful tool, just watch yourself

You get good and bad prices, good and bad sellers etc everywhere. The key is to look everywhere and be careful everywhere!

I think it's hit & miss everywhere as I see equally cringe worthy pricing on eBAY and the forums at times.

There just seems to be too may impatient people willing to spend next months pay check on anything they can land their hands on.

Leave them to it I say, some people are beyond helping, and when you do try to help you just get **** for it.

Surely eBay is the real nuthouse. Currently I believe there is (all graded) a £12k Vader white background, £10k Anakin POTF, $6k Tri Yak, $6k Luke X-Wing 20 Back.
