RS Supports Replicator Boxes

Was just coming on to post this - have just seen it posted up on FB

Seriously - how crazy is it for RS to do this ???

As crap as this is, highlighting this may bring it to the attention of the Hasbro/Disney suits. Surely a license must be granted to use the IP in this way?

RS have always supported the making/manufacturing and selling of reproductions. It's nothing new.

 WTF why would they promote this **** and as for affordable alternatives are they takin the piss i dont call £40 for a piece of **** repro cardboard an affordable alternative

So RS are taking it to the lowest denominator, it doesn't surprise me after all they do it with the modern stuff. You might of thought they would take take the high ground after they have been so sensitive on other issues.

Looks like they have taken the page down now - it is so sad that they would even promote something like this...

Just in case......

Replicator Boxes Recreates The Classic Kenner Magic - Promotion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UK graphic designer (really? graphic designer? this is immediately giving him credibility) Darren Orme has spent the last year (idiots giving him scans that he glues onto cardboard. a full year of trial and error) creating reproductions of classic Kenner packages. His intention has always been to offer collectors an affordable (£30 - £50 for a fake box?!!!)alternative to the skyrocketing prices (evidence please? where are these skyrocketing prices of boxes?) of the original packages by way of clearly marked replicas. (Clearly marked? The original marking was on an inside flap) The boxes pictured above look outstanding (won't bother as it'll be censored) when put on the shelf, but are clearly reproductions when you have them in hand. (Clear to who? So are repro weapons and RevalveIT junk) While we think he's done a great job both in product quality and i the reproduction markings,(shame!!!!!!!!!!!) we're curious what you think. Check the gallery linked above and his site (promotion, promotion, promotion) and let us know what your thoughts are! (disgusted)

Looks like they've taken it down, was obviously getting a lot of bad press

From the thread on RS it looks like the regulars there didn't support the front page article (or the selling or repros) either.

I just can't believe someone wanted to spotlight this as a "good thing" on the front page.

Welcome to SWFUK.

Would love to see pictures of the Darth Vader focus :)

Thank you! I just acquired a few new pieces I'm really proud of, so as soon as I have time to snap some photos, I will post them!

I was a member of RS for 10 years, so please don't hold it against me.

But to get back on topic, it looks like the moderator who originally posted that article is now defending his reasoning in that RS thread. He says it was to make people aware that these fakes were out in the marketplace. But it sounded more like a glowing endorsement to me.
