First time I've seen this but when Han et al. are marched out of the bunker outside there are a group of Rebel soldiers with their hands up in surrender. Just a little to the side is a Biker Scout without his helmet also surrendering. Anyone know the story of this?

Funnily enough I only just saw a documentary recently that explained this, apparently there was a whole scene that never made it past editing where it shows the rebels using a different method to get into the bunker.

In the scene where the biker scout runs around the corner to be surprised by Han and the rest you'll see the bearded rebel put his gun down, in the missing footage he puts it down to change into the biker scouts armour and gain entry into the bunker in disguise. Hence you see the remnant of that missing footage when you see him with his arms up surrendering in the one you mentioned.

**** I'm a geek.

Check out this doco on youtube, it explains it all much better than i just did. Be warned it's seven hours long!

Yeah, in EU land, this dude was named Nik Sant.... http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nik_Sant

And Hasbro made a modern figure of him dressed as a biker scout so you can recreate the surrendering scene when you play!!

Ryan, I'm still only 5 hours in to viewing this documentary from when you first posted the above link a couple of months ago  I'll get there, slowly but surely. Fascinating documentary, though- and a unique way of viewing the original trilogy... it's like seeing it with a fresh pair of eyes :D

Is this the Jambe doc. I've seen the SW one if so. Haven't gotten around to the other 2. I heard that the DVDs had extra stuff on them and I'm awaiting them eagerly :D

 Yeah it took me about 12 attempts to get through it, tried watching while I was working and as you may guess that didn't work out too well.

It certainly is a grreat way to watch the trilogy, with all the neat little extras you almost feel as though you are watching them for the first time again. All of the extra info about certain scenes is certainly worth it.

Didn't know these were released in DVD I'll have to find out how to go about getting a copy.

Excellent piece of detective work there, Escapist... although I must say, old Nik looks like a medieval warrior (from the neck up) was he recycled from some previous Knights of the Round Table sculpt :?:
