Lost a legend, what a week, first Rene now this  so many great roles over his career, what a blow.

Outstanding actor of our time, Caligula, Elephant Man, Quentin Crisp, Ollivander, truly a prolonged career bringing his own magic to each role, very sad loss indeed RIP

They summarised some of his films on the BBC a bit ago and I was then taken aback by how many movies... they noted he had over 200 credited film appearances

A real loss to the acting world, he was one of the few remaining truly great British actors. Be it as John Merrick, Winston Smith, Quentin Crisp, Caligula, The War Doctor or Kane he inhabited every role he took and effortlessly acted everyone else off the screen. As mentioned his CV's truly phenomenal and shows he was scarcely out of work in a career spanning 50 years.

It's only a couple of weeks ago I watched him in 'Whistle and I'll come to you", an ITV adaptation of MR James ghost story from 2011. RIP.

Midnight Express and Alien, two of my favourite films of all time. Brilliant character actor and an amazing voice.

For every true talent we lose these days we seem to be gaining another 10 talentless, fame hungry, overly tattoed, reality tv wannabes.

RIP Mr Hurt.

John Hurt was amazing I remember him from elephant man, alien, Night Crossing, Spaceballs, Roger Corman's Frankenstein Unbound and many more great movies, RIP
