Just seen the news, and this is one that means a lot to me. I must have seen his version of Willy Wonka a hundred times and still love that film to this day. RIP Gene!

The weirdest thing; I was sitting at the bottom of the stairs listening to my son up in his room trying to get to sleep.

He was up there singing an increasingly sleepy version of the Oompa Loompa song as I went on to BBC website on my phone and saw the news.

Very sad - RIP.

We have lost so many great actors in 2016 and it looks like it does not stop. RIP Gene Wilder, you were fantastic and I will miss you.

Some of the fantastic movies I remember with you is

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Silver Streak
Stir Crazy
The Woman in Red
Haunted Honeymoon
See No Evil, Hear No Evil

Thanks Gene for some very funny movies.

Thought it was touching that his nephew said he kept his illness a secret as he did not want to limit the joy kids got from asking him if he really was Willy Wonka, when they met him in the street, saying it would limit there happiness of meeting him. Who else could of played that role back then like he did
