I've posted this up on the RS forum, but I wanted to put it up here as well, as I hoped some of you might get a kick out of it. I suppose this is a belated introduction of sorts - I've been an active member on the forum here for a couple of months & have been running my mouth about posting pictures of the vintage collection that I retrieved from my Dad's attic a few short weeks ago. I decided to breathe new life into my old habit of collecting small, articulated pieces of plastic, but wasn't exactly sure of what I'd held on to from the glory days of my youth - Turns out it's not too shabby! As you might expect, a few weapons have gone astray in the mists of time, along with my Hoth Stormtrooper's skirt, Lando's cape & the tips of Ben & Vader's lightsabers, but I think I'm going to concentrate on getting a good quality loose collection on it's feet before replacing any missing bits & pieces.

Anyhow, here's my collection as it stands today. I say 'stands', but there's no real limelighting to speak of at this stage - 'Patience my young padawan; all in good time.'

I also unearthed an old cardback that my Dad used to keep track of which figures he'd bought & which ones I had left to collect. I remember him holding on to that with one hand while rifling through toy shop bargain bins with the other. You can still see his biro circles around some of the numbers.

Finally, here's a couple of pictures of my recent additions to the collection. One or two bits from are from FleaBay (before I discovered the good people on this forum & plenty more on the international board), but huge thanks go to Iain & Eddy for their help & support with managing my new addiction, & also to Steve for supplying the jewel in my modest crown which comes in the form of an awesome Ledy Biker Scout. Enjoy - Chris.

That is brilliant - I think loads of us on here would love to be reunited with the figures that we played with as a kid - however battered and bruised they are.

You have the start if a very nice little collection there and it will be great to watch it grow :D

Nice.

Certainly a solid start. Where do you hope to take your collecting?

Thanks man! I'm hoping to fill in the gaps in my loose collection & get myself a tidy display before moving on to bigger (or should that be 'more expensive'?) things, but I've already started a small focus which will doubtlessly lead to the purchase of a few MOC's, so I fear that the inevitable snowball has already started rolling for me!

Initially, I'd been drawn to anything with 'Palitoy' on the box, but I swiftly reconsidered upon closer examination of the price tags!

Thanks Iain. Yes, I'm quite attached to the old gang, & as it stands, I don't have any plans to replace my original figures, regardless of how knackered they might be. The scratches & scrapes are all down to my love of playing with them when I was a kid, & that's something I'd be hard pushed to replicate!

Thanks! & that's a great idea actually. The fact that it's absolutely annihilated doesn't bother me in the slightest - I'm proud it's lasted as long as it has!

This is great to hear of somebody else unearthing their original collection from childhood- and yours have faired a lot better than mine, Chris... good to see the original blasters and sabers still intact. And that cardback... amazing. There's a whole heap of memories contained with that, I'll bet :D and I agree with the others, you've got to get it framed!
