Restored Carded figures

TFB I should have been clearer the first time I posted in this thread, If the card back is original then yeah no need to mark it at all but if you ever went down the road of using printed card backs then there is definitely a need to mark them as "repro" but Im sure you would anyway. If the bubbles are repro then there is a definite need to mark them a "repro". Good luck with your project.

I will be selling a restored 20 back stormie with it's orginal bubble as well as a restored Hammerhead soon. I consider these to be acceptable as they are "Restored reseals".
I'd be interested in purchasing the 20 back Hammerhead if it was on a Palitoy card :D

Grant...I will not be making repro cardbacks for this. Just repaired originals.

Kenner sorry. Some numseys seem to be paying huge amounts for extremely damaged Palitoy cards lately....so after they are done and they lose their hard-on....I will be back at the Palitoy cardbacks. On a side note, The Palitoys I will be restoring will most likely have name tag replacement due to all the brits cutting them out for the mail ins.

Be interesting to see what you can turn out Todd - I still have my reservations and would prefer to see you go down the custom route.. but you have every right to do what you want

As long as these stay in the right hands then I am sure that they will be appreciated

Do not worry. While these will be done slowly and look the best they can, I do not believe they will fool anyone who is knowledgable upon close inspection ( I have not perfected a seamless repair...good...but not that good). If people choose to mis-represent them in the future that would be sad and I would hope people would use common sense, but I know that is lacking in the ebay world. Every possible attempt to make these easily identifiable as restored will be taken, while still keeping these looking as authentic as possible. I know I am walking a fine line. Once the first one is done, I will take detailed pics and I am open to peoples opinions on improvements that can be made.

You could always go the Kenner-Babe route and have Politoy on the Palitoy ones...

I'll give my stance on reproductions and resealing. Apologies if I go off topic.

I honestly have no problem with it... reproduction or not. I will say that I'm actually doing this for the first 12, however that's for my personal collection and the cardbacks are very clearly marked reproduction on the back. Yeah I do have a problem with people selling fakes though, but there's far more than just Star Wars figures out there which people buy/produce to sell on as fakes. I won't stop buying some things just because some people have bad intentions unlike those of us without. Not every seller wants their reproduction items to be sold on as fakes either.

I don't see why those of us without the funds or willingness to devote enough funds towards these collections should be deprived of having carded figures if restoration kits are out there. Sure I could buy carded, but I'd be living on an incredibly tight budget for a while, post living expenses. It's just not worth it to me. I collect many different franchises of toys, but I always ensure I either buy new or have the packaging if it's within my price range. I just love carded/boxed figures. Personally displaying loose figures feels incomplete to me and doesn't excite me as much. Unfortunately original star wars figures which are carded are outside my budget.

All this said, I would defiantly prefer restored originals if it wasn't too much more. Good luck, perhaps I'd buy some myself! :)

Lars, I can possibly understand full blown repro cardbacks with the extremely rare ones or those figures commanding thosands of dollars......................but I would rather see someone take the time to find a sealed beater...or a nice restored cardback....................or save their money up, than buy repro cardback kits. I t is nice these are marked repro and I get the display factor for sure....but in reality..it is not really reality, they are simply copies. I am not one of those high and mighty repro bashers (except for poon, he is on another level :D ) so I will say it is what ever makes the collector happy. Many of the guys worry about future transactions (passing onto the next buyer), but in reality you can not protect those who can not be protected from their own stupidity and lack of self control when making purchases.

Restores and Customs is all I will be selling on the forum and you are more than welcome to look at my sales.
