I was looking to replace the badly corroded screws on my Han Blaster, and I think they're size No.4 x 3/8" [2.9mm x 9.5mm Blunt point pan head]?

I'm all for originality but would you put replacement screws in the same category as replacement stickers/inserts?

It's a matter of personal choice, naturally. For me personally, I regard repro stickers and inserts to be much worse than a replacement screw. Obviously if you are able to find some vintage original screws for your blaster, so much the better, but personally if I had a blaster with corroded screws that needed replacing, I wouldn't feel bad about replacing them for some non-original non-corroded ones. However, if you ever come to sell the blaster, such replacement screws should of course be declared for full transparency, but hopefully you would have done that anyway :)

when you say corroded, will they come out easily enough ? If so take them out and try soaking in vinegar then clean with an old toothbrush I ve cleaned up screws on vintage a 12 inch figure that way.

Thanks, I think I'll try giving them a soak and a clean ...though I'm not sure how much screw will be left ;).

Was gonna say the same as Mike- vinegar or Coke for a couple of days, followed by a good scrub should work really well.

You can also use a small wire brush to remove rust etc from a screw. Done that lots of times and works a treat.
