R2-D2 Creator Tony Dyson died penniless

I thought this was ever so sad, apparently he didn't have enough money to cover his funeral expenses http://moviepilot.com/posts/3815567

Before anyone else says it, I don't think anybody of that age should be living without a penny to their name either and who knows what he spent his money on over the years (he surely made some) but even if he pissed it all away it's still sad to read that someone so creative ended up with nothing.

RIP.....an intresting interview with him back in 1997 stated that he did'nt actually produce the first prototype R2-D2, this was produced by John Stairs of SFX. Apparently the original prototype was too heavy for easy control so commisioned Tony to produce the 8 models for ESB & master molds used on ROTJ...

Definitely. Could have tagged along with Kenny. He must have known him from back in the day due to costume fitting alterations. Maybe it just wasn't his scene or maybe he just wasn't aware he'd be a sought after guest.

Read that he'd died. Very sad when folk die at such a relatively you age. The way the govt. want it he'd have been a decade away from claiming a pension, let alone ready to push up daisies.
