Character actor Wilford Brimley has died at the age of 85.
Brimely's iconic screen work includes such films as 'Cocoon,' 'The Thing,' 'The Natural,' 'The China Syndrome,' 'The Firm,' 'Hard Target,' 'In & Out,' 'My Fellow Americans,' 'Absence of Malice,' 'Tender Mercies,' 'High Road to China,' '10 to Midnight' and 'The Electric Horseman'.
'The Thing' is one of my favourite films of all time, and Brimley was brilliant in it. He played Dr Blair, the first character to realise the true magnitude of the threat they are facing and to take action accordingly.
