I'm being lazy (well it is a Sunday after all!) so haven't had a search through the forums, but what's the limit on the value of goods entering the UK to trigger a customs charge?

I want to buy something off ebay.com and as usually the seller is a government cock-sucking prick and refuses to mark the item as a gift and I don't want to get stung with a rip off customs charge and an even bigger rip off handling charge.

anything over $25 could be charged - I also got charged recently on a $25 package that was marked as merchandise rather than gift (even though I'd asked the seller to do that)

Annoyingly VAT on that one was £3.11 and the handling charge £8.00 !

a couple of months back i contacted a guy on ebay from planetforce, i offered them an extra 100 bucks if they marked the item as a $30 dollar gift at my risk for me and he would not do it and rather be get less money and get me stung but i wanted the item so hoped i might get lucky and ended up with a bill of £250 which was the most i have ever had to fork out and really after that, no way will i ever get anything again at that price unless marked as cheap. i really cant see why they wont do it especially when you say at your risk, lots of other places are more than happy to help out, I bet if they got stung by getting items from the UK trhey would think twice.
