Problem with ebay purchase

I thought I would share with you what happened in a transaction on ebay I had this weekend.

I won a batch of 24 loose figures in okay / played with condition with no weapons and no rare figures from ebay seller: summerball73 for £21 in total. I paid almost straight away.

Then the next day I receive a refund for the full payment, with a comment attached of:

"I am refunding your payment as there should of been a reserve on the item i was selling. so i shall be re selling item properly due to the error the first time. sorry about this. "

I am pretty disappointed in this so rather than just leaving it at that, I send the following message, which I thought would get a reply one way or the other:

"This is very un-professional, to not want to go through with a transaction because it didn't go for what you wanted. It is against ebay rules and should be reported. To be honest you won't get much more for 24 loose figures with no weapons. Your feedback implies that you are a good ebayer so I hope you will reconsider and complete this transaction. Yours faithfully".

Well ... I didn't receive a reply and then noticed the next day she had listed a batch of 85 figures, some of which were from her other auctions that didn't sell and the figures I had won.

I tried to report the item as not received but couldn't because you need to leave 10 days.

I don't think that this is in the spirit of ebay and I would certainly not do this for anything I sell even more especially when we are only taking about a few quid, and also risk negative feedback. To warn others I have left her a negative feedback (Which I am now feeling a bit guilty  about as she did have 100% postive out of 52, and did refund me rather than trying to keep the money as well). To tell the truth I'm not really that upset about not getting the figures, but a bit disappointed that its not what ebay is about.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before and what did you do?

I had something very much like this happen to me about a year ago. The seller didn't use a very good title and I won a set of first 21 and a vinyl case for around $60. i received an email from the seller about them thinking they had put a reserve and that they didn't want to sell them to me at that price because an appraiser had told them they were worth $700. I sent them an email telling them that I was a collector and that no way would they ever get that much out of the figures. I think I even sent them some completed auctions of similar lots that had ended around $150-$200. I was bummed about the whole thing as I wanted another set of the first 12 to go with my mail-away display stand and figured I could almost break even by selling the extra figures and case, but I decided to just let it go. However, I think you should be able to file some kind of an ebay dispute. They always say your bid is a contract and such. You held up your end of the contract and the seller is not. I have no idea how you would start the process though.

Thanks for your comments.

If she ever gets back to me, I'll post her reply.

I wonder if she will try and get her final value fee back from ebay, if she does I won't be cooperating. lol

Cheers

That sounds like a plan! 8)

I'd contact Ebay and see what they say about her not fulfilling the sale, but don't expect them to care!
