postage to the USA

No it should be about £11 tracked, but I presume 90% of the costs are to cover the insurance.

You could ring around insurance companies to see if they will insure it for less than the post office/courier or simply risk it.

I sent afew hundred quids worth of stuff to afa not long ago and it cost nothing like £70. That was insured and tracked.

Is this the new price structure from Royal Mail? Mine was probably before the prices changed.

Gary, I was in the PO the other day and asked the girl for an approx cost to send a figure to the states. It was more than twice the price of yours and would have been double boxed, it was AFA graded as well. She said it would be about £25, that was tracked and insured.

Mind you I didn't have the MOC boxed up, so we guessed at the weight, but either way I'd say £70 is a piss take.

Who is this with? Royal Mail or a courier?
£70 is too much unless the package weighs a lot which i assume it doesn't. Given a single MOC weighs next to nothing and can fit inin a relatively small box i would have thought it could be done for around £15-20.
I sent a full box of Garbage Pail Kids cards to the US last year. Pretty heavy (about 4lbs) and £300 value. Did it for about £15 tracked with Royal Mail.
Having said that, RM have put up all their international prices recently so it may have gone up and it might be worth checking a couple of couriers for a better price.

hi guys i just sent off a parcel with royal mail 2.9kg for that they said it would be this with no cover
globaleconomy 28 working days £45.70 offers no cover
globalvalue from 4 days £47.75 cover upto £100 max cover £500 with add cost
global priority from 3 days £68.63 cover upto £100 but max cover is £2500 with add cost
cost of insurance on top upto £1000 is £37.80
so if you want to send something and cover it for over £500 its going to cost you £106.43 like it did me i hope this has helped
