Total rant i guess but as i have used Play.com for about 10 years now and they have always been great for DVD/Blu Ray etc i was a little sceptical when they sold out to the Rakuten a year or so back, but as there was no change all seemed ok. THEN TODAY. I logged on as i do most mondays to check all my pre-orders and see if there is anything new and i discoved all my orders had been cancelled and that Play themselves no longer sell anything, it is now one giant marketplace that is more expensive than Amazon.... Well that will be the last i use them for anything, shame they were good at what they did guess thats the price of progress, i susspect and indeed hope that many of their longtime customers think the same and move on.

play.com went a while back. I guess it's taken them time to shut down everyone's accounts/orders.

To be honest Play (and Amazon) may have been great for consumers, but they have single handedly killed the high streets by selling everything from Jersey and thus avoiding paying tax for years. It was going to have to end eventually.

I always used to use play.com as they were always cheaper than amazon. Then a few years back I noticed their prices slowly rising and it was getting harder and harder to search for stuff. Checked back on amazon and they were cheaper and a lot easier to search on and use. Play died years ago for, shame as they were a good company once.
