Palitoy Troop Transporter Questions

Hello all,
I have a couple of quick questions for the Palitoy vehicle experts. I have come across a Troop Transporter for sale which is in Star Wars Palitoy box, with Star Wars Palitoy instructions. The stickers are unapplied and apparently all original paperwork is included. But there are two unusual things about it.
Firstly it comes with a grey battery cover (still in a baggie), was this ever the case with the Palitoy version?
Secondly it comes with the Capture Log featuring Boba Fett (in fact 2 of them!), but this is from ESB onwards only right?

Does it sound genuine? It certainly looks legit as does the seller, so is it possible that Palitoy were still selling these with the older boxes but added the Capture Log in? And that the later version featured a grey battery cover instead of a red one?

Thanks in advance for you help!

Jason

Oops, sorry should have checked there first (forgot that site covered vehicles to be honest).

Looks like it's legit, thanks for your help!

Zippy, Palitoy did indeed keep selling the Troop Transporter after the original SW release, and even though they never produced a version with ESB on the outer box I have seen a legit example with an ESB catalog - so that fits.

However the presumption was that the grey battery cover version was the earliest issue and was soon changed to red. So what you have is quite an interesting find. I have never seen one with the grey battery cover still in sealed bag. On all NRFB examples I have seen you have one baggie with the six side figure compartments and one baggie with the battery cover, radar dish and prisoner harnesses. Is this what you have? Be interesting to see a pic if you can post one?

If you have a pic of the underside of the Transporter that would be useful too to see the COO stamp. Also worth a close look at the Capture Logs as they have subtle textual differences too which can help determine the date of issue.

It would be nice to know what bounty hunter log was included as there are 4 known variations....

OK guys, I'll see if I can find out. Might entail me buying the damn thing which would take another couple of weeks (payday see), but I'll let you know.

Watch this space :D

If it came with the capture log, the box will have the bounty hunter symbols on it.

Glad the vehicles stuff is of use, must get the ESB and ROTJ ones on there too,

Cheers Jason

Isn't it the case that Palitoy released both box variations of the Imperial Troop Transporter in 1980? The vehicle is not included in the 1979 Palitoy Star Wars catalogue after all but was included in the 1980 poster. The toy was not advertised on television until 1980.

Palitoy retained the Star Wars branding in 1980 for the first two sets of figures and some of the other items in the collection including the playsets and large size action figures, so it wouldn't be unnatural for Palitoy to release the Imperial Troop Transporter in Star Wars packaging. Unless anyone has paperwork from Palitoy stating when the toy was released?

Craig.
