Palitoy Snowspeeders

Just got another palitoy snowspeeder today, and noticed that there is a difference in 1st issue packaging.

One has the boba fett bounty hunter head tokens on the front picture, and one doesn't.

I assume the boba fett one is slightly later, but which one is harder to find?

I'm sure I've seen both before but never twigged that there were two versions (if that makes sense)

Hey Andy, I believe the Boba Fett Heads on the box denote that the box contained a leaflet regarding the "Bounty Hunter Capture Log"

This was another promotion whereby kids could receive rewards for sending in POPs or name plaques. The prizes were: Dengar, Survival Kit and the Vader Carry case.

3 Pops = Dengar
4 = Survival Kit
6 = Vader Case

Hope this helps. Not sure which is rarer but I think I have seen more pink box speeders without the bounty hunter capture offer than with.

Cheers smirk, i didn't know Marc had that focus or that there was difference between the pal boxes. Thought I,d stumbled on a new variant. My dv tie has the boba heads so is there a 'clean' version of that too?

And any answers as to issue order of the snowspeeders?

Chris I knew about the heads just not seen them on a snowspeeder. I recall sending off the action man stars back in the day, which was the same kind of thing.

What about the DV TIE then Emiel - is there a bobaless palitoy box?

I'm not sure Andy, but according to Dave Tree, the Palitoy DV Ties were produced during at least the SW and ESB lines, so I think it probable.

thanks Emiel - I had the DV TIE as a kid, and would have got it in 80 or 81 so I guessed it survived the ESB change in packaging, which also explains the bounty hunter packaging

I have a feeling that it was a late addition to the UK market, which might explain why there are no/very few examples without the boba heads

It's the same reason that there is no UK SW Falcon, but the ESB Falcon has SW instructions. I'd never really paid that much attention to the subtle differences in packaging before today - I was only bothered about a pal logo or not
