I found an inflation calculator online. It produced quite a shocking result.
Putting this Falcon in as being bought for £24.95 in 1980 shows that in today's money it would be just over £112! Which is a good bit more than the modern (crap) equivalent. I had always assumed the prices had gone nuts, whereas in actual fact, they've remained steady on some things.
That said, the figures are different. If you take a figure in 1978 as costing £1.25 (average?) then that works out as £6.95 today. A £1.59 figure in 1984 is lower at £4.80. Compared to the rip of of £9.99 for a standard figure now that's quite shocking. I actually think that £4.99 would be a reasonable price point for the modern figures and that balances with how much the old stuff was back in the day.
