Not so much asking for a valuation, just surprised at the prices cardbacks in general and palitoy cardbacks are going for on ebay these days.

For example:-

A 12 back stormtrooper with bubble attached (ripped behind the bubble) went for £41
Without bubble and nice card went for £34.50
With name tag removed went for £15

This is a cardback which would have cost no more than £10 a few years ago.

Has the market gone nuts?

And more importantly, am I sitting on a goldmine?

i too have noticed the rise in cardbacks id say palitoy in particular and even trilogo cardbacks to some degree in good condition have tripled since i started collecting backs about 5 years ago! so yeah if you have some spare sell them now. i bidded on a stormy pali stormy card a couple of quid recently with a name cut and with sticker damage and it ended up going over £10.......crazy............

Still no love for this though for some reason - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PALITOY-VINTAGE-STAR-WARS-CHEWBACCA-1977-/350753080943?pt=UK_Collectables_SciFi_fantasyCollectables_EH&hash=item51aa83466f

I've found that the prices for palitoy can vary from month to month although there has been quite a trend for things going for a high price at the moment. There was a 12 back Han up for sale last week that wasn't in the best shape but still looks like it went for around the 1300 GBP mark. I'm sure someone on here picked one up in much better condition for around 850 a few months a go. You can never tell but If you do have any spare Cardbacks Jason then it's probably the time to let them go. I'll be definitely keeping a close eye on things over the coming weeks

I recently won a Palitoy 12b stormie cardback with nameplate cut for £6, seems the market fluctuates a lot then?

We almost were competeing on that one

I was thinking only yesterday about starting a nice collection of cardbacks - Palitoy's in particular, as a nice cheaper sideline - well that's idea down the swanee!! :?

The fact that many are Palitoy crazy is the obvious reason for this! I rem back in the day I used to get card backs for nothing! A few years ago I got around 15+ Palitoy 30 back cards for £20!
