Original figures 12 back figures dated 1977....?

Forgive my ignorance, but are all the original 12 back release figures, Luke FB, Vader, Stormie etc all dated 1977 on their leg markings regardless of card back? For example a Luke FB on a ROTJ card back will still be a 1977 fig? Same as a Chewie on a POTF card will be marked 1977?

Yes all 1977 except Takara which are 1978. ( there is a rare 1978 R2 as well )

The date stamped on the figure is reference to when they were first released, didn't know about the 78 R2, what's the story on that?

I think the first Sw figures weren't released until early 1978 . I thought the 1977 referred to the date the figures were designed. I wasn't born until summer 1978 . Does anyone know the month the first figures appeared in shops?

Don't know the exact month in 78 the figures were released, late spring/early summer??

Ha, that was prob around the time I got my first SW toys! Wish I was at Hamleys or Selfridges back in early 78 waiting for the good stuff to hit the shelves :lol:
