Open account to post anonymous showcase?

I read the thread in the Vintage showcase section regarding security when showcasing valuable items. Obviously nowadays people can be easily tracked down.

I'm assuming collectors on here have some amazing items, which some of may not even be valuable, but still very rare, of the likes we never see.

Is there any way the moderators could create an account we all have access to (but no overall control, ie changing the password) so people can post items anonymously with no fear that shady people can track who it belongs to?

Just a thought.

I've seen this work on a car forum- anonymous thread for guys to post pics of their 'ladies' & ex's , took an 'interesting' turn when pictures of sisters showed up :lol: :lol:

I've no idea about anonymous threads Edd would need to answer that one. He's on holiday at the minute.

If people want to limelight without drawing attention to themselves they can drop one of us Mods a PM with the thread details (pictures, descriptions etc.) and we can copy and paste it into a thread and post it under a suitable title "Anonymous 8D8 limelight" for example.
Not that anyone would be daft enough to want to focus on what's easily the most boring figure in the whole SW range! :wink: :lol:

Obviously we'll keep the person in question's ID a secret. If they are really worried/paranoid they can create a new account just to message us from.

Is that workable?

PS, not sure I want PM's with pictures of your wives, gf's, ex's or sisters though! God only knows what Todd would send me! :?

Sounds awesome. Yes let's get to see what absolute stunning rare vintage stuff people have that they dare not tell people about out of fear of burglary.

Will be interesting to see if anyone actually bothers with this idea.

Kind of related to secretive collectors..something that always makes me laugh is when people visit collectors that rarely limelight on the internet and see their collections in person (then usually tell everyone in private what they've seen and how amazing it all is) ..surely it's more risky to give someone your address, allowing someone into your house to see what you've got and then tell others all about it than just limelighting under an alias and never giving up your address to people lol

Considering some of the amazing focuses people have managed to put together of other common figures, I bet someone could pull an amazing pool of 8D8 items together. If anything it'll be a very cheap focus to concentrate on over many others.
