Hi folks,

I have about 6 figures that I recarded for display purposes. Before joining the forum last week I was going to purchase 10 more card backs for some complete figs I have.

However, I've read some comments on here and I've rethought the idea of regarding them and have decided to not bother.

Someone on here said "collecting isn't a race" and after some thought, I think spending money on repro cards is a waste of money that could be spent on obtaining vintage figures/weapons that I don't have. (At £4 a pop they ain't even cheap).

If I want some on cards I'll stick to the modern Hasbro vintage range.

So with any luck a complete Max Rebo band will surface soon :)

Just thought I'd share.

Cheers
Adam

Smart move Adam :D

I first bought some repro carded figures many years ago as I thought it would satisfy but as soon as I had them in hand knew that I'd made a mistake. In the end there was little point reliving my childhood with newly made reproductions and I figured it was better to wait until the right vintage item came my way than settle for a cheaper substitute.

Give it some time and I'm sure the right figure will present itself. There's always original opened card backs with their bubbles still attached and reseals available that I think are a better way to go than any kind of reproduction.

Happy hunting!

Well done Adam, great move :D

A reseal, or beater MOC is still a Vintage piece, with all of that history, nostalgia, and the fact that these pieces have been collected, cherished and admired, now it's your turn to be a custodian. If and when you wish to trade up then there are always collectors who will trade with you for them, so they stay within the SW collectors circle.

Repro cards in hand just don't do the job, they don't have the history as Has been said, so well done that. Man :D

Welcome to the forum mate great to have you on board :D

Great decision man....You put your points across very well. As the lads have said, Vintage is the way to go...you can pick up pieces on here, weapons/loose figures etc, at very reasonable prices from absolutely reputable sellers.

I can see the appeal in some of the modern cards too in fairness. Some of the figure sculpts are nice.

However, steering clear of the Repro crap is a wise move
