I definitely agree that a lot of people probably have some extra cash on their hands with cancelled holidays, no work travel costs and no going out costs. And I also think that the lockdown situation has probably increased the urge for a bit of a splurge! Not to mention a lot of people sitting around on their backsides with nothing or little to do or more flexibility whilst working from home. I think there were already some warnings that prices had risen sharply during lockdown and that the anticipation and delay to the auction of a big Palitoy collection coming from a former Palitoy employee exasperated it. I was prepared to burn a little bit of spare cash but not go crazy and save some incase everything goes to **** in the near future. Did anyone else think that the auctioneer took way too long "fair warning" before the hammer came down? I had a complete nightmare with my telephone bidding as the phone and internet went dead right in the middle of the lots I was bidding on. I was running round the house telling everyone to stop using the internet! When I eventually got the phone line re-connected I was a bit flustered. I found I had luckily won the last lot and just about had time to throw in a final bid on the next lot although without a lot of care and thought as to whether it was reasonable or not.
