See Vectis are having another Auction in April with some nice looking figures in it again.
Where are they keep getting them

Think some of the pieces were on show at Sandown Park Toy Fair Sat. Gutted I missed it :|

Nothing super rare, another Palitoy 30A back Luke Bespin and Lando, 12 back Sand People and Trooper and a Die-cast Land Speeder 8)

Yes
Another lovely Palitoy 12 back R2D2 also

Spoke to the Vectis guys at Sandown yesterday. These figures are, again, coming from the Palitoy rep. Same as last year.

Is it just me or do any of you miss that you can bid to the end of the auction on the internet ?

I am not happy about I need to place a bid and then people who show up for the auction a couple of hours later can outbid me without giving me the chance to outbid them :(

Just my thougt, what do you think ?

Just put your max bid in to begin with and cross your fingers you win

Lars, much to my expense I found out you can bid live directly with Vectis. You can also bid via Invaluable BUT this attracts an additional premium of 3% (I think!).

Bidding live through the Vectis website does not attract any more costs or premium than sitting in the sale room and bidding in person however, BE WARNED: There is a nasty flaw in their service (not that they acknowledge it as such) that allows you to bid against yourself. If you register bids against items in advance (as you currently do and only possible to do so when registered and logged in) then when bidding live (again only possible when registered and logged in with the exact same details) you can outbid your own bid (the one you left in advance).

I appreciate that this is a bit of a stupid thing to do, but in the moment of panic when you think you're about to loose your very nice Trilogo Zuckuss for the sake of a tenner it's very easy to have another bid. Really. It is.

I did ask Vectis if they planned to do anything about this and received a simple "no". Bit annoying but at least I was doubly sure I won the Zuckuss. :D

Out of goodwill you'd have thought they'd refund that, I mean no one else is losing out, other bidders had dropped out so they know it's you versus you. It's a bit mean considering it was such a small amount.

My thoughts entirely. Their excuse was "the seller knows that the final bid was". So what? Explain there was a problem. Very much a case of who you deal with. I've had vastly different levels of help from different people in the past.

What really annoyed this time round, though, was this was the same sale that when I tried to pay for the 9 items I won they said there was only 8. They had cancelled off my winning bid for a Palitoy ESB sign because someone had taken a phone call the previous day from "someone with a similar surname on a similar lot" who has asked for their bid to be cancelled! Whilst it's comforting to know they will accommodate bid cancellations in certain circumstances it is no comforting to think that had the under-bidder been present they would have walked off with my item due to poor admin. So their mistake is allowable and forgiveable and yet mine receives "tough ****" treatment. Not impressed.

Rant over :D

Did you get anything at Sandown? I was late :|

There were a few vintage stalls but nothing I particularly wanted and I felt they were overpriced. I did pick up a book I needed for my vintage book collection. Quite chuffed with it as well as I'd been looking for one for quite a while and it was in really good condition and only £1 :)

My main reason for going was to pick up some Vectis wins from the last auction.

Dame I didn't know you could do that
I'm still waiting for mine

Yes they'll take them to collectors fairs if they're also attending. Cuts down on the postage and one of the guys also kindly helped carry them to the car :D

I know but there is always so much that I want and if I bid so much then I do maybe not have money to bid on another vectis auction at the same time.

If I take a chance and think I will maybe only win 1 auction and bid on 3 or 10 but I can only pay for one then I get a problem :(

People who are there for the live auction do not have the same problem.

Sounds like the system is not perfect, maybe I should try to learn the thing you talk about any links to where to this ?

ANOTHER Luke Bespin!! It feels like this rep might have a whole box of several figures and is letting out one at a time to maximise his gains?
