Hello,

Just joined the forum and looking to start collecting MOC ROTJ graded figures.

I would like to start my collection slowly and had in mind to buy the more popular figures.

I am spending my time researching this subject, but did consider visiting Vectis auctions next month to expand my knowledge. Vectis is only 2 miles from my home.

Looking for any advice you guys can pass my way. Should I avoid auctions such as Vectis, will I pay over the odds etc?! Any tips/advice for knowing what the going rate is for a particular figure?!

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

I would go to vectis as an observer, either that or if you really want to buy, look through the catalogue in advance, pick something you want and search ebay/forums for completed sales to get an idea on price. Then set your limit being careful to add about 24% for the buyers premium and stick to your limit.

STICK TO YOUR LIMIT

Don't let the excitement of the auction get the better of you.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!

Hi Lejackal,

Appreciations for your informative response and for welcoming me to the forum!

Think I will attend Vectis auction like you say if anything to see what is selling and how it all works. I think a good game plan would be to focus on one or two items that I would like to buy and get an average sold price from EBay/Vectis sold history. At least when I attend I'll have a good idea about whether or not figures are hiked up by the nature of auctions.

One thing that I am interested in guaranteeing is that what I am buying is genuine. Maybe the safety of an auction is worthwhile?! I would feel uneasy buying such items from EBay although I am sure most sellers are genuine.

Many thanks.

Check out the For Sale threads on here as well. No one is allowed to sell repros or undisclosed reseals, and you won't have to pay the Vectis fees, although in fairness they don't sell dodgy stuff either.

Thanks for that!

I'll take a look at that. I presume you just pay via PayPal and not risky assuming the sellers are well known on this forum and community?

Sounds good.

Cheers,
