Hi folks,

Thanks to mods for entry to forum..

Huge fan of of the Episodes IV - VI when younger....in fact Star Wars was the first film I ever say in the cinema as a (very) young impressionable kid...that'll age me :)

Anyway, was seeking some advice...as a kid, I had a large collection of the original Action Figures / Toys / Playsets but they were slowly parted out in my late teens to pay for beer money. I did however keep:

- Original Action Figure collection (loose) from SW / ESB & ROTJ (besides a couple, they all have their original weapons) with some duplicates. The only figures missing are Amanaman, Luke / Stormtrooper, Han / Carbonite, EV-9D9 and Sy Snootles / Reebok Band. All purchased by me as a kid. These are mostly in pretty good condition as they've been stored carefully over the last c.40 years.

- Death Star Play set - no box, a bit shabby with a few bits missing

- Palitoy Droid Factory - shabby box, no instructions and some of the stickers have lost their stick (although I still have them. The base has become loose but pretty sure all the individual parts are present

Will probably move these on in the near future as interests has moved on to other things and *I think* I am ready to pass them on to the next collector...it's taken a while to get comfortable with that!

Five questions if you can help with any / all...

1. I'm pretty sure that I've mapped the correct weapons to each figure - believe it or not from memory (this stuff stays with you!) or using a 2005 Action Figure Price Guide I bought in 2005 (Fantasia/SU) which pictures each figure / weapon together

2. What is the latest, most accurate reference guide for valuations? Or do we rely on ebay sale prices?

3. Is it worth getting them all graded prior to sale? I see this'll cost around £25+VAT for each on UK Graders...so a total outlay of c.£3K of all them to be done. Obviously I wouldn't bother with the more tatty ones. I assume UK Graders is the default go-to for this?

4. What is the market like currently?

5. Favoured places to sell - I assume on here and on ebay? Anywhere else?

Thanks in advance for any guide....much appreciated (y)

Welcome! You're in the right place- take your time and have a good read. Only sell if you are totally sure- so many people regret it! You can always keep a couple of the more nostalgic items...

-Post lots of clear pics in the Valuations section (link above)

2. What is the latest, most accurate reference guide for valuations? Or do we rely on ebay sale prices?
-Again, start a valuation thread and people will help you out

-Personally, I hate grading. However, if you want to maximise profit, sending of mint, complete, rarer figures can be worth it. You will have to wait months though and package them all up etc.

4. What is the market like currently?
-Prices are dropping, but still reasonable

5. Favoured places to sell - I assume on here and on ebay? Anywhere else?
-Here would be great (very little hassle), Ebay (hassle), Facebook (🤮 )

Thx @Cazza , very helpful (y)

Welcome onboard. Nice to see one of new accounts is an actual fan! Too many spammers signing up (or trying to) at the minute. Good to know my Spidey sense still works too.

I think Cazza answered mist of your question, but any more, feel free to ask. We're a pretty friendly bunch on here……unless you support Man Utd😉

Cheers @weasel

More a rugby / F1 guy but massive Wolves fan as a nipper (local) and more recently a (Bro-in-law influenced) Gooner….

Not sure that helps my plight 😂
