Spoons, wanna bet he doesn't play 2 consecutive games before January!?

"Two months" at Arsenal is as good as 'his careers over'.............just look at Rosicky, he's only out for a few weeks and that was season 2007-2008

What is it with the Arsenal medical staff? Are they actually qualified?

they're probably all junior doctors - Arsene won't pay for fully qualified ones

might give them chace to bring through an english player...not likely!

whilst Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea have so many up and coming English youth players in their ranks

Stop reading the Daily Mail Andy

There aren't many teams with more English International academy players than Arsenal, Wenger's long term plan is just coming to fruition.

I wouldn't be surprised if in 6 years time the core of the England team is made up of lads from the Arsenal academy. Gibbs and Wilshere are just coming through and will be in 23, 24 then. The future is looking bright for England, they'll have a team of players who've been taught Wengerball rather than just how to hoof it

There's a whole load of good English players behind them, not all of them will make it but there are loads of good prospects.

lol, come on, who was the last english player to break through an academy and estblish themselves at top level football...dont say walcott...

i dont mean that is just arsenal, im a liverpool supporter and we have bought some absolute total wank foreign players when we could have brought through a youth player and given him 3 years experience like Gerrard got..

its a genralisation that the modern game will not risk players from youth teams in fear of losing ground, only teams like West Ham and Everton have the opportunity to risk youngsters because they dont have the pressure to win trophys.

I must admit that it has got better, but we still need a fine crop of english players to take the lead and come through from the age of 17 18 and progress propely, and not just have a part time job in the carling cup

I'd say Man City, Middlesboro and in particular West Ham have pretty decent academies.
But I don't know the nationality of the kids they are producing. Totally pointless in Man City's case as unless they are a Gerarrd/Rooney they will NEVER get a chance even in the worthless cup.

your missing the point Andy, the current academy was set up 10 years ago, so all the 5 year olds then are now 15 - and are the ones who'll make the grade. The 7-9 year olds are just coming through and Wilshire and gibbs are closest to making it.

The likes of Sidwell, Bentley and Cole came through the academy before them but were products of part Wenger, part what went before

Stay tuned

An Arsenal fan saying the kids will come good soon.................now where have I heard that before!?

Sorry mate, couldn't resist!

dont get me wrong, most top teams have awsome youth academys and the talent in there is unbelievable, but will they get the chance, will they bollocks.

bring back the 6 player limit on foreign players in your starting 11 and then we will see younger players get top level football consistently, the standard of football would drop slightly for a season but just imagine how good these players would become playing week in week out.

the standard will drop, the sponsorship will dry up and all the best players will go to Italy or Spain and we'll be back to the 80s - and England will still be ****.

Don't get me wrong, I was a regular at Highbury in the 80s and loved every minute - but the football was nothing compared to the Premiership today and without the best foreign players in England the young English have no reason to improve.

how many World Cups did England win before the Premiership and all foreign starting 11s. Arsene Wenger wasn't tp blame for failure in the 70s, and 80s.

Things wont get better by limiting foreign players - I honestly believe the only way of sorting the National team out is by creating proper acadamies like at West Ham and now at Arsenal and a few other places. The English players will then be good enough to earn their places in the starting XIs
