Well I've started my new project.
Me and the Burnsy boys are gonna build a fully operational, remote control R2 unit.
After many years attending Con's and Mem's and trooping with the UKG I decided I had to have me an R2.
This is gonna be a long project and I've been doing a lot of research on the Builder forums for some months now.
It's unbelievable what goes into building one which I'm gonna share with you on this thread if you're interested. Sorry to post
this on here if you have no interest, but I treat you guys as my Star Wars buddies and I hope you'll enjoy seeing this project through with me.
I've already ordered and received a few parts. What I'm aiming to do is complete the body and dome first and then move onto the legs.
There are various methods and materials which can be used for building ie. Wood, Styrene, Aluminum and also Fibreglass for the dome.
I'm trying to do as much as possible in Aluminum but it's costly.
There are builders around the globe who commission runs on parts and you have to wait for them to come up.
However sometimes people want to drop out from a build and sell of what they have.
So far on order I have :
Holoprojectors for the dome
Eye on the dome
Utility Arms - two main arms at the top centre of the body
Dome
Octagon Ports - on the front and sides
Power Couplers - on the front and rear
Front Vents - two main vents in the centre at the toop of front body
Skins (which are the main outer shell you see on the body which connect to the main frame)
JEDI system which is the brains and control system
JEDI light system - which are the lights you see in the main dome.
I have got my frame and built it tonight, hope you like it.
