Hey folks
Into the final push now. 12 days to go, so if any of you kind souls on the forum fancy backing this one and helping a fella out, nows the moment...

ANGEL EYES on Kickstarter:

This looks great, good luck, can see you reached your goal!
Any plans of a 2nd printing in the future?
Thanks - yes, we got there, but man was it hard work - Kickstarter is not an easy place to build an audience these days.

Not sure on 2nd printings - the campaign is still open for a few days for what KS calls 'late pledges' - so folks can still get the books now.

There is a chance we'll do a simple campaign on something like Zoop as a different platform later and they then have a print on demand shop, which would be good.

We'll all be heading to Thought Bubble later in the year (Margate) for the convention so 100% we will take some stock up to that and I might even bring some along to Farthest From - have to wait and see.

Another new one for me - heading to Harrogate and Thought Bubble Con this weekend to sign some books and hopefully make some contacts as I start looking for (Working out how) to get gigs as a comic book writer... A metaphorical and literal new chapter......

It was a long old weekend and a bit of a reality check at least in economic terms anyway. In purely numeric terms the weekend looked a bit like this:

Distance travelled (there and back as a hobbit would say) : 560miles
Time to travel there and back: 12hrs
Costs for the weekend : £300
Time spent manning the table: 12hrs
Number of high-vis jackets worn: 0
Number of books sold…. 5 (£85)

You don't need to be in set 1 maths to see the challenge there...

Thankfully, for me the weekend was less about selling books and more about meeting people in real life (including my own publishing team for the first time) and seeing how the world of comic books works. As well as teaming up with Rob Jones, Matt Hardy, who were selling their amazing THUNDER CHILD books & Andy Lanning who spent the weekend industriusly drawing away, I also got to meet two fantastic artists who created covers for ANGEL EYES, Rory (Comic book artist) & Anna Readman ❤️ .

As a slightly 'nervous-newbie' I was blown away by the creator community that I met over the weekend, likewise the fans who attended the con, friendly, supportive and conversational... very conversational. Most of my 12hrs trying to sell books was spent talking fantastic nonsense with people and I can honestly say my night out on Saturday was one of the enjoyable I'v had in years, made all the more so because of the setting, Harrogate is a lovely place (Even if the bathrooms in the Majestic were somewhat perplexing) and if I go back next year, I think making more of a trip out of it would be the way to go.

It was an eye-opener of an experience and I hope some lessons learned, like maybe talking less nonsense and focusing a bit more on promoting the book I was trying to sell 😀. But it won't be long before I have another crack, thankfully this time a bit closer to home at the Farthest From Star Wars convention in Fordingbridge on the 7th Dec (very much one for this forum)… https://lnkd.in/etq7D-g5 - although I suspect my biggest challenge will be staying at my table, as opposed to visiting all the other tables selling loads of lovely vintage Star Wars toys... I only need there more figures to complete my loose 77 run (Snuggle Tooth, Cloud Car Pilot and Solid 3PO... Thats the real goal for the weekend).
