Since getting back into the game, I've been trying to get hold of all the MOCs that I had as a kid. By my reckoning (memory is a little hazy on a couple) I had the following figures brand new- either as presents or bought with my pocket money:

Roughly in the order they were bought...

SW R5-D4 (Zodiac Toys, Swindon 1980)
SW Death Star Droid (Zodiac Toys, Swindon 1980)
SW Luke X-Wing (seaside shop in Cornwall 1980)
ESB Boba Fett (Christmas Stocking 1981)
ESB Han Hoth (Christmas tree 1981)
ESB Hoth Stormtrooper (?)
ESB AT-AT Driver (Lewis Meeson newsagents, Cirencester 1981)
ESB Lando (Christmas present from my friend Mike 1981?)
ESB Leia Hoth (Hurleys, Burnham-on-Sea 1981)
ESB Stormtrooper (Lewis' Birmingham 1982)
ESB Imperial Officer (birthday from my friend Jamie, 1982)
ESB Cloud Car Pilot (Tesco Home & Wear, Cirencester 1982)
ESB AT-AT Commander (Tesco Home and Wear, Cirencester 1982)
Mail Away Dengar (?)
Mail Away Emperor (?)
ROTJ Weequay (?)
ROTJ/TRI Klaatu (Carrefour, Calais 1985)
ROTJ/TRI Nikto (Carrefour, Calais 1985)

I also managed to acquire several other figures through swaps etc ;)

Ships etc:
SW X-Wing (Argos, Swindon 1980)
ESB Snowspeeder (Christmas tree, 1981)
ESB MTV-7 (Tesco Home & Wear, Cirencester 1982)

Here's where I'm at- these are my original childhood loose figures with their equivalent MOCs:

Here are the others- unfortunately I don't have my loose childhood counterparts, but I do have the loose versions (bought later).

These are my loose childhood figures I still need to find a MOC for (box in Dengar's case). I'm not holding my breath

Nice collection and very nice idea. 8)

I've been contemplating something similar based on what cardbacks I still have from childhood. All the Palitoy ones I already have, but most are Kenner, so that makes an interesting side focus.

Great stuff

I have been trying to do that as well. They all look great and good luck hopefully you get them all.

I'm playing the childhood focus game too.

I can't do it with MOCs but my cardback collection is as close to what I'd have had as a kid as possible.

Your LXWing is great. The Palitoy 20 backs really press my time-machine buttons.

Wow, despite your concerns of some hazy details, that is a solid memory in my book! I shopped in a few of those stores as a kid too and getting a piece with a Zodiac Toys price sticker recently was a real buzz!
Good luck with the quest :D

Thanks guys. Used to love Zodiac Toys- good find on the price sticker 8) Also remember SW in McIlroys in Swindon, but they were always more expensive. My favourite shop was definitely Hurleys in Burnham- was an absolute paradise in those days.

Wow.....great memories there!

I used to buy my Star Wars stuff from Zodiac Toys in Peckham....I've even managed to find a few Zodiac-priced cardbacks.

Love it mate. Like Gary I was thinking of something similar as I still have all my original card backs. To be fair I've had virtually all of them on the correct card backs over the years but never created the focus. You've not got far to go.

That's well cool, great idea. I don't know how you remember all that, but amazing that you do. I've just been trying to remember all the figures I had as a child but I can only remember so many.

Amazing memory you have and great idea for a run! I can only actually remember where I got one figure (a stormtrooper for my 10th birthday). Great to see so many Palitoy logos on the cards too 8)

What a greta focus you have :D

I don't think I remember what card most of my childhood figures came on  But I am sure all of them was ROTJ or Tri-logo.

Thanks fellas 8) My long-term memory is pretty good... shame about my short-term! No idea what happened last week

Got a little update. On a similar note to my figures, I've been trying to source a SW Palitoy box for my original X-Wing. Managed to bag one for a very reasonable price from Brian (Threesheepio) last week. He very helpfully split the box/insert/ship for three of us to add to our collections.

It arrived on Thursday and I immediately set about getting it cleaned and straightened out. Amazing how much dirt comes off these things! Used plenty of starch and gave it a gentle iron, before leaving it under some heavy books for the night. Very happy with the results! Here it is with my childhood X-Wing (complete with faded stickers) and next to my recently acquired Gamester magazine.

Also, in keeping with this focus, here's some pics of my childhood scrapbook (shamelessly taken from my other limelight thread).

Cazza, this is a fantastic thread!
Am I right in presuming you are of more advanced years like myself?
I'm presuming so as not many members on here will have been into BSG or were old enough to remember?
Am loving the scrap book and sketches.
It's reminded me of my scrap books which I'm gonna have to dig out. You've inspired me mate :p

I also designed a new bounty hunter through the SW fan club competition for an upcoming film called Star Wars 2. I never got round to finishing or sending it in but will show you guys if ever I find it.

Excellent thread .
