Thought this might come in handy if you run into a MOC you suspect has been retouched with ink, in most cases this is easy to spot but on glossy cards it can take shifting it back and forth in the light to spot these touch ups.
This Vader Trilogo has ink on the litho front of the card - you should be able to spot the purple patches above and below the punch hole in this picture.
Below you can see that all edges of this card have been inked over -
On a Trilogo that hasn't been inked you should be able to see the plain cardstock like this -
Now, while it's almost impossible to get the ink out of the edges you can lift ink from glossy card fronts. You will need some kind of cleaning product - I used Goo Gone (the stuff used for price stickers) and some cotton buds.
Apply some goo gone (or alternative) to a cotton bud and gently apply to the inked areas, you can use the other end to pick up the ink and also the excess goo gone.
If it is going to lift from the card then it will transfer to the cotton bud as shown.. (nasty stuff)
The end result, whilst not amazing is definitely better than before -
Just remember to check cards for ink in the obvious places, for some strange reason many collectors/dealers/sellers/traders/ebaycuntrags decide that inking the edge of the card is better than selling it with edge wear - which on Trilogos is pointless because the edges are supposed to look like that..
If you do attempt to clean the front of a card, don't use too much cleaning fluid as it can stain and be a right old mess and as I have only tried this on a glossy card please be careful on other types of cards as I am not 100% sure of the end result.
*Sorry for large pictures, hard to see the ink on the edges with smaller sized images!*
