Hi folks,
Not one for wanting to draw attention (unless its about TIE Pilots and fecking Ugrades), but there's a good group of you guys I want to send a blanket message to.

With the Force Awakens approaching, I don't want to be spoiled by reading anything in error. This means blocking every Star Wars page and Facebook. It will also mean leaving the forum for a while.

To be honest, my collecting bug is gone. Whether it is trolls and their constant Star Wars bashing, infighting, ridiculously inflated prices, the fun of the hobby has left us. Perhaps it will return after everything has calmed down.

So thank you guys, I will see you soon. Will always at the events such as Brighton Film and Comic Con and defiantly Farthest From (can't wait for that).

You can always find me on Facebook and if not, contact one of the podcast guys and I will reply.
The Force Awakens matters. I really hope it's the film we all want it to be. Hopefully we will have an opportunity to watch it together.

Take care, and May the Force be with SWFUK…….always

Sad to see you go mate. Fingers crossed you're back on after TFA. F
ingers crossed it turns out to be decent as well, I'm expecting something on a par with the prequels just to avoid disappointment.

Sorry to hear that Grant, don't let them get you down! Imagine how boring it would be if we all agreed all the time :)

Buddy, that is sad news indeed. I'm sure the film will reignite the collecting passion and it's quite clear the passion for SW is still living on strong in you.

I'm sure you've seen collecting change over the years and with such a surge in interest it brings a surge in both new and returning (like me) collectors. Not all will be welcome and it is bound to feel different. Personally, I don't like being part of that problem. I am equally sure that within 3-6 months of the film release the majority will disappear back into the woodwork. Maybe balance will be returned.

Looking forward to seeing you at FF, mate, if not at Brighton.

Noticed you'd been quiet for a while mate - and that your FB was full of pictures of the Welsh Valleys rather than Star Wars - so guessed you were having a break

Luckily we have imported Ian_C over to fight the U-grade cause so you can save your powers for a later date

I am sure you will be back - Star Wars and this forum are in you blood - however, enjoy the break and we'll look forward to seeing you back all giddy as hell after the film is out

That's the beauty of it all Grant it will be for you what you want it to be bud, don't let anyone put a downer on your excitement for the new film.

Take a break and come back to bask in the talk post release date, you're going to have to go on a heap of mountain treks to avoid the news until then though dude.

It's getting the SW / life balance right that is difficult at present. Wake up in the morning to a bazillion messages and notifications on your phone / social media. SW is on the radio in the car, whether it's news or a podcast. Kids at work are talking about it. Loads of messages through the day on phone. Come home to edit / record / research new things for the podcast and answer the bazillion new messages. Day in, day out.

Sorry to hear that your off for a while bud, hopefully you will not be away for too long, you will be missed for certain, your knowledge, your support and your wit are needed here, I'm sure many will agree.

Peaks and troughs sir, as with all things in life,

look after those furry little ewoks mate, keep your chin up

Sorry to read this Grant, the forum is a better place with you around. Understand what your saying and not surprised as I have noticed you have not been posting much lately. Hope you return or change your mind and stay cool. 8)

May the force be with you.

Gutted you're leaving shagg nut. You'll be missed.

I think with the new film there's 2 possible outcomes:
It's great and we all get to enjoy star wars again.
It's ****, interest in star wars will fall back, all the toss pieces will leave the hobby and prices will go back to normal.

Either way we can't lose so I'm looking forward to you coming back with a reinvigorated passion in about 2 months time.

Now that right there is an awesome point :) The new film is win-win whichever way you look at it, although I hope to god it's the first.

Sorry you've lost the buzz/bug for it Grant. You've certainly been a face in the Star Wars collecting world since I've been involved. You're knowledge and enthusiasm are well valued around here believe you me. Only today I was listening to your interview with Craig on one of the podcasts, thoroughly enjoyed it mate. Sometimes hobbies change and evolve and you just got to go with it. There's still Star Wars in you.. the Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully. Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll keep an eye out for you at Brighton man, take it easy :)

Sorry to hear you're having a break Grant but we all know you'll be back soon enough.

I can totally understand your reasons for this with not wanting to spoil anything from the new movie as well as losing the bug a bit with collecting. These prices really aren't sustainable and people like yourself know it's not just about the money but more about what something is really worth. I've been more and more put off picking things up myself due to this and constantly losing out on things with prices getting out of hand makes you really rethink what you want out of this hobby. The end of the day you have an amazing collection as it stands and maybe now is a good time to just enjoy it and then look at adding to it in the future when people start to calm down. I remember in the 90's just prior to the special additions that some places were charging 75 pounds for a regular white haired Obi Wan, well that did stay that way for long thankfully!

Look forward to hearing from you on here real soon as I know you'll be back with your thoughts on TFA as well as seeing what's out there for your Star Wars museum.

Enjoy the break and all the best for now brother. :D

Ian

Sorry to see you leaving Grant.

I can understand you wanting to get away from the tools and the spoilers, but I hope my rather blunt post the other day regarding the TFA trailer and raised expectations wasn't a factor in this decision.

I hope you get what you are wanting out of the new movie, and you'll be back sooner than ever.

Ian

PS. Thanks Iain for the mention. U graders - I show no mercy.

Grant...I know the feeling buddy. Lately the hobby has had it's moments for sure and a huge influx of morons. Going off the grid and acting like it is 1993 again will help greatly I think. I did it for a bit as well.

yes enjoy the break, and i hope you come back to it feeling better, heres hoping the new movie is what most of us hope it will be

Sand news Grant - make sure you make the most of your voluntary exile and see you on the other side

See you when you come back Grant, taking a break is only ever a good thing when things are getting you down!

Lock the door to your man cave too till you get the bug back. Going cold turkey is pretty harsh but at least that way you have something to look forward to seeing when you are back!

Hope TFA is what you want it to be mate and enjoy the film!
