So, my current mid 2010 Macbook Air is on its last days and I need a new one pretty asap.

As Im not a computer geek at all I was wondering if anyone here can shine some light on the different specs on the Air. My current one is a intel core 2 duo 1,86ghz with 4 gb ram, its been fine but lately its been abit slow, which seems logical being 3 years old.. I mainly use the computer for listening to music, some basic document work, videos and very basic photo editing. So the question is, will it be sufficient for me to get the base model which is 1,3ghz i5 with 4 gb ram, or will it be a dramatic change paying extra for the 1,7 i7 4gb ? Should I maybe opt for the 8gb ram ?

Basically Im a noob when it comes to computer specs, I just want an upgrade from the one I have for as little as possible :p

Any input is welcome

for what you are using it for the i5 with 4gb ram will be more than enough mate, you dont need an i7 it will be over kill.

you might want to upgrade the ram if you do some heavy photoshop work but i have 4gb in my work PC and can edit just fine.

If you want to sell your old one let me know, I'm looking for one to use while I travel so sounds perfect :) As said the Air's are more than adequate for everyday use even in their lowest spec forms. My girlfriend has one with only 2GB RAM and thanks to the SSD it is lightning fast.

The one I have is a mid 2010 model, the 13" 1,86Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 128gb HD, 4gb Ram.. Ive ordered the parts needed to make it mint again, mainly the left speaker as it seems to have a malfunction, and the charger is not optimal as it dont want to charge unless I keep the chord in a specific position, Ive had it taped up for a year so I guess its only natural that it was bound to fail at some point.. new ones are 20 pounds on the bay.

Will give it a good clean and try and find the software so I can re-install the OS and sell it, feel free to make me an offer.
