Luke fb & bespin yellow saber, whats that all about???

Have been looking at many vintage figures of late since recently getting back into collecting so they are pretty much constantly on my mind, in particular recently Luke Bespin as ive been on the look out.

Today I had the pleasure of watching ESB with my son as he was off sick from school ( always a good excuse to stick on the original trilogies)

Anyway so im watching away and it suddenly dawned on me that at no point does Luke have a yellow lightsaber, yet the bespin and fb figures do :?:

Ive never questioned it before but i am now and I wanted to tap into the minds of my fellow SWF members for any ideas about this :?:

I think this came up recently. Could have been because it fit better with the Luke farmboy colouring, or because they had lots of yellow plastic! Makes semse for the 3 primary colours for each sabre.

Yellow is also the colour of the force saber and inflatable saber.

Try: retro blasting yellow saber. I think that's it.

thank you for that, was very interesting and entertaining i hadnt even got as far as thinking about the missing saber for Luke hoth, yet he has that rifle :lol: and Luke Endor, baffling :?

My display will have sabers for Luke Hoth and Endor but like the guy says changing the yellow for blue would look wrong

Don't forget Luke Jedi also has a blue saber as a variation.

Hi when they were making the first 12 they wanted 3 different colour lightsabers, for luke,ben and vader so kids would like them and to telling difference between the figures,, they did not think give continuity back then

12" Ben Kenobi has a yellow saber. Confusing!!!!

It's quite ironic because on the original photo of Ben for the Mocs he is branding a yellow beam sabre :!: They get it right in the Kenner Jedi and tri logo photo variation!
Luke is given a blue sabre in the POTF2 line.
