Grant, sandles are somewhat of a luxury over here and often worn by the upper echelon of society particularly whist adorned with a lovely pair of knitted socks.
However the large majority of beach fairing welfare enabled citizens prefer the humble thong. The Australian rubber thong is not to be confused with it's American cousin which straddles parts of the body seldom seen by the feet. You can imagine our confusion when American singer songwriter and all round lyrical genius 'Sisqo' shot to fame with his timeless classic, The Thong Song.
People over here rushed into the streets singing in unison, finally we had found an anthem we could call our own! Sadly we were mistaken.
But I digress, yes the sand on the beach is very hot, (hotter than Miranda Kerr in a two piece bikini) thus some form of footed protection a must! Although the Sunshine Coast is a warmer climate than down south we do still have our fair share of warm days but that is nicely balanced by the fact we have far less drunken teenage dick heads!
