Hi anyone else remember the good old days in the late 80s when Woolies and John menzies sold off all the old Star Wars stock???

I remember the figures were cheap, but they still wanted £19.99 for Vader's Star Destroyer- quite a lot for around 25 years ago.

Menzies had bins of carded figures- I picked up a few that started my carded collection!

I think woolies sold the last 17 in baggies (I am told this)!

I remember having to write to Palitoy who forwarded me to a Toyshop called Geoff's Toys to get the last two figures I didn't have. This was in 1985. Thats how I got Power Droid and Cloud Car Pilot!!!!

I can remember woolworths selling of loads cheap. They seemed to have them all the figures in bags from what I remember

I can recall loads of dagobah playsets there as well.

Can't believe I got nothing. Oh for a time machine!

There where clearance sales here in Denmark aswell .

Joe and i made a little special about it here at his site

Awesome, that's exactly as I remember them....don't suppose you have another set you'd be prepared to pass on to another collector?

I can remember boxed ATATs and Ewok Villages being reduced down to £5 each in my local Woolworth's. Who's got a time machine.

Thank you

Grant.

Haha yea I often dream of a time machine there was a shop in Leicester called smiths toys I remember having bins full of fetts and last 17 figs in the late 80s

Whenever I read threads like these I just shake my head in utter bewilderment as to why I didn't buy loads of figures and ships.
I can remember my local toy shop knocking the figures down to 50p but I only bought a Han Bespin as he was my favourite - opened him and he had a factory flaw on the back of his neck, was so pissed off as I had spent ages picking the best paint job!!! That's probably why I didn't buy any more!

Fair enough I was too young to consider the whole investment side of things but considering just how important SW was to me I can't believe I didn't just buy at least a few carded figures to keep!

When I see ships with 99p stickers on them or the whole woollies mixed bags I think the same as everyone else - time machine, find myself , hand over £100 and give a quick lesson on safe storage/archiving :D

Yep - My memories are from our local market circa 1986 I was 13 - they had all teh last 17 - I remember getting Luke Endor, ewoks, I passed on han carbonite and luke stormtrooper for some reason? :?

Then there was bike shop that had loads in those metal mesh bin things - I Got yoda, walrus man and loads more on Jedi and Tri logo cards inlcuding a Tri logo Boba Fett.

My Dad gave them all away when I was 16 or so
