kenner v palitoy

Less Palitoys survived unopened in good nic. Kenner was avaliable in the States and they made shed loads of figures!

you make it sound like a massacare

If you take the 12 backs for instance theres probably only 1 Palitoy for at least every 50-100 similar Kenners. There are also quite a few collectors around looking for the first 12 or even 20 on Palitoy cards. Demand vastly outweighs supply for most figures so prices are 3-4 times higher than the Kenner equivalent at the moment or more (although some figures like the Sandpeople are easier to find).

I had a full set of Kenner 12 Backs but I sold them off as they didn't really 'do it' for me. They weren't quite what I remember as a kid as the logo really stuck in my mind. The 20 backs in particular are great as they have the Palitoy Death Star on the back and theres no offer stickers on most cards which makes them better looking in my opinion 8)

Also I find Palitoy cards to be a bit more glossier and the bubbles don't tend to yellow as much, if at all. If only we'd kept ours mint when we were kids!

Its nice that the trilogos don't yellow but the downside is obviously the bubble thickness compared to the POTF figures. The Jedi carded figures aren't too bad for yellowing either and the cards are also really nice as they are offerless (on the front anyway).

Another thing with the Star Wars and ESB cards is the lack of a price sticker area (white square). It makes the cards look a lot cleaner than the Kenners 8)

With certain playsets, Palitoy were of inferior quality. so not only were less made, even fewer survived.

yeah thats the great thing about most palitoy cards

it wasnt untill the empire strikes back when i brought a bespin security that i even knew kenner had existed but its one of my memories i vividly remember as seeing a kenner logo on the card for the first time and thought maybe a new company had taken over and never clicked with me that these were american cards and not UK ones till the special offers came in to effect and the kenner figure offers were much better than the palitoy ones with a nice photo of the figure always remember the admiral ackbar offer as was cool seeing new figures you couldnt buy in shops at first
