Hi guys ,

Is it just me or is eBay getting over run by scammers , reproduction rubbish and non payers

I put a few things over the last 3 weeks and 3 things out of 5 , were bought by people who never paid , they also had zero feedback, meaning I had to re advertise .

Is anyone else seeing this ?

Nope, you're perfectly sane.

Been getting the same too with non-paying bidders. Give them 3 days then stick a dispute in.

Not had an zero feedback bidders though.. all mine have had a decent amount 200+

Repro rubbish is all over Ebay... I'm avoiding it like the plague now, and only buy modern bits. Sticking to here and FB groups for the buying side now.

Also, prices are being driven sky high there too... was watching a few L17 trilogos last week..

I have only sold with buy it now (requiring instant payment) for several years now. Far too many non-paying numpties around.

I had one buy my Palitoy Slave 1 last week and after 3 days of no payment I contacted him. 24 hours later I get a message back to say he'll pay me middle of next week latest.

Get ****ed.

I cancelled the turds purchase and blocked him on any further auctions. Then I get a message to say can his mate buy it for him but can they pay after 3 days.

Get ****ed again jackass.

So I block his mate. There really are some absolute losers out there.

There is nothing worse than a twat non paying buyer, not that I sell that much at the mo but it has happened to me. Ebay's also riddled with dubious listings these days, loads of fake ****. There are still some good sellers on there but you have to be careful.

Instant payment required is THE only way to go AND don't deal with zero feedback bidders. eBay ****ing sucks these days...

It's the way of the world at the moment i'm afraid. When i was buying a fair amount of vintage on ebay about 15 years ago via the good old cheque, many of the sellers would posting their stuff out before my money was showing up in their bank account! Would any sellers do that these days?

I swear people are drunk or high when they're listing; some of the starting prices/buy-it-nows are ridiculous. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised what greed does to people. Thing is, it's only going to get worse come the end of the year and beyond.

I always tend to start anything I list at 99p and let the market decide. Sometimes you get a nice surprise, sometimes not.

I've always thought that stuff which is listed at 99p with no reserve is a good current market value guide. But now ebay is rife with shill bidding, so probably not correct 100% of the time anymore.

Circa 1997 I sent $180 cash in the post to the US. About 5 weeks later a mint VC Jawa arrived at my door. Imagine doing that these days?.

Hey! Weasel actually passes on some useful (almost) Star Wars related knowledge!!!!!!! 8)

I've been on here, **** knows how many years and I think that's a first! I'm all chuffed now. :D

I sold about 12 ungraded cards, and 3 graded ones few months back. The ungraded ones were all low end stuff - Prune Face, IG-88 ROTJ etc. All acheived near the prices I saw identical ones go for previously, all started at 99p. The only issue I've had was selling a camera, which went for £670 and the buyer didn't pay or answer emails. Think I remember this buyer had over a 1000 feedback. Did me a favour in the end as after relisting with free postage, it went for £720.
