Most insurers have a maximum price for a single item that they are willing to cover so its worth checking what that is if you've got some pricey pieces.
I would photograph each of your items from several angles and then store the pictures on an online 'vault' like photobucket or similar. Then if your computer gets nicked you still have the evidence. Also print off and keep all your ebay purchases along with the paypal payment page or scan/copy the cheque. Keep a handwritten checklist of what you have as well.
If you have stuff which is not on display all the time you could always scatter boxes in different places throughout the house so it makes it harder for a thief.
well its kind of hard to convince an insurance company that my boxed millenium falcon is worth about Ã'£60 when i bought it for Ã'£16 (by saving invoices)....just cause i said my collection is worth Ã'£5000-Ã'£7000 doesnt mean i payed that for it       iam a tight bastard......
