Insurance Company Recommendation?

As time passes and collections grow in size and value, there comes a point where some collectors (like me) feel that having their collection separately insured seems like a very good idea, rather than just lumping it in with your home contents insurance and hoping for the best. I can't be the only one here who has found him or herself in this particular boat, and so I was wondering whether any other forum members can recommend a good (presumably specialist?) insurance company for insuring a fairly sizeable and valuable collection here in the UK? As we all know, you only find out how good an insurance company actually is when you have to make a claim, so if you do make a recommendation, it would be very helpful if you could say whether or not you have ever had to make a claim with that company, and how good you found them when doing so?

Any help or guidance on this would be very gratefully received. Thank you.

I've recently gone back to mine and they said I have to bring s company in to verify it.

Giving them a ring on Monday.

I'd try a local business first.

Hiscox or John Lewis.

I claimed for damage to a vintage watch with hiscox and they were fine. JL do my current home insurance and were cheaper than hiscox but similar levels of cover.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone else have any other recommendations to add or any other insurance claim stories (good or bad)?

I went through the a broker, greenfield insurance

Was good dealing with them as they seem to specialise in oddball insurance. My home insurance company flatly refused!! Even wrote it into the contract!
