We are due to move house soon and I have the pleasure of being able to display my toys again in a room that we're going to use as a den/movie room.

My wife hates the idea of the damn things being out on display collecting dust, so does anyone have any bright ideas on how to display the ships and playsets please?

I am going to attempt to build a cabinet for the loose figures.

Thought of making a custom acrylic display tailored to the exact item you want to have on display, you can buy sheet acrylic & acrylic glue (tensol) in varying grades & viscosity's, I have found you can cut acrylic sheet fairly well on a rotary tile cutter.

All depends how handy you are building stuff yourself, be ok if you could rope Ryan in as his cabinets are the muts

I saw a real neat idea for displaying ships & playsets, can't remember if it was on here or one of the other forums, basically a false wall with recesses made for the ships in a different colour, you could then add acrylic or glass covers if dust is an issue which it always is, magnetic strip is now available in a tape form that's really useful if you don't want any fixtures showing.

This could be a possibility...

Anyone got the measurements of the loose ships?

These are the rough dimensions of the boxes on the shelves:
Width: 33 cm
Depth: 37 cm
Height: 33 cm

Or this:

The expedit system is good but depending on what ships to display you might struggle with some of them, particularly as the shelves are fixed

I never displayed any of the larger ships in the house because they just don't sit well on standard display shelves ..not well enough for the Mrs anyway  The smaller ships such as Slave-1 might be ok in most Ikea type cabinets. But really you need something custom built. Failing that, regular dusting.
