HELP! GOLD PLATED C3P0...

I'm currently obtaining quotes as to how much it would cost to gold plate (18 carat) a vintage C3PO.

Two of the companies want to know what a C3PO is made of (and what type of gold paint is used) before they can specify..

Anyone......

I'm thinking of doing 3 actually, one as a gift, one for myself and one to possibly sell on at a profit if someone is mug enough to buy it.

URETHANES or Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS


i think urethane is the flexy stuff like most limbs are made of but since C3P0 has stiff limbs id say ABS...

im not 100% tho sorry!

I agree he is abs and also in most cases made from reground/scrap plastic abs.

Have been told by two companies that by gold plating it I would loose detail on the figure so i wont be doing it....

That would depend on the plating thickness, which they can control, but even at the thinest you would loose a small amount of detail.
